Many of my friends have started using the new Jagex Launcher; and I've been considering downloading it to use as well.

I have been reading these forums & what I'm hearing disturbs me, i.e. launcher not working, accounts being banned due to trading with alternate accounts owned. I'm a very cautious person & do not want to cause problems for myself by downloading/using the Jagex Launcher if it is going to cause problems for me. (I have my main account & 4 alternates...3 of which I created many years ago when "pure" accounts were valued...which are quite useless now. I know trading with alternates is legal.)

I'm not computer literate & have a hard time understanding instructions that are verbal unless I can actually turn those words into pictures I can follow; so I would appreciate your patience in this regard.

I'm thinking of downloading the Jagex Launcher & would like a "step-by-step" instructional process to use. I understand the "windows client" I've been using for many years does not...not...need to be removed/uninstalled/deleted from my PC in order to get & successfully use this Jagex Launcher. Is this true?

I've been playing RS since the early 2000s and have never been hijacked/banned/written up for anything; & no one has access to my computer but me; also, since I have never (and will never) break Jagex rules, I suspect all my accounts are safe. Will they still be safe if I start using this Jagex Launcher? Enjoying this game has been life saving for me due to the living situations I've dealt with, i.e. terminally ill mother I cared for until she passed away and a semi-disabled son who plays this game to help him cope with his physical situation. I would not want to lose this avenue of escape for either of us.

Can someone help give me peace of mind about getting/using the Jagex Launcher? (I understand the "windows client" I've been using for years will soon be useless in playing RuneScape; so getting the Jagex Launcher seems important.)

Jodie,

Rest assured this is an official Jagex client. It works perfectly fine and you should not have anything to worry about. Also you do not get banned for trading your alt's. What often happens is people engage in shady things and then get banned and do not like to own up to their mistakes. I would recommend you take a look and download the launcher of the main page of the Runescape website.

I am only finding information that the Jagex Launcher is still in the beta stage. Is this true?

I have not found the "download" for getting this Jagex Launcher. (I'm running Windows 10.)

Yes it's still a beta item atm.

It's available for download on the main Jagex website - under the launcher menu link, or on the main Rs homepage, as the left image link below the giant banner.

While it's a beta, it's very functional. The multi-account and jagex account stuff is still being developed, but it's usable to launch the game client in its current form.

I did download the Jagex Launcher and have used it twice now to get into the game. I'm finding it a bit confusing:

1. When I log out of my main account a window shows up asking if I want to "play" or "sign out"; and when I click the "sign out" I get a message, i.e. "To change the account you are logged into please close the game client and change the account in the Jagex Launcher." At this point all I know to do is click the "x" at the top right corner of that RS screen, which of course closes the window. Then when I pull up the Jagex Launcher again so as to use one of my alternate accounts, I do not get the option of doing so. Instead, the launcher automatically logs me into the same account I had just logged out of. Thus, I have no idea how to pull up one of my alternates in order to make any trades needed. (Yes I do know trading with your own alternate accounts is now legal.) Some information about this would be helpful. Thanks you

Right now, the launcher doesnt support multiple accts being signed in. You'd have to use the settings option to sign out then sign in on the new account. You could go through the hassle of signing out, then re-authenticating over and over, but it would take a lot of time.

Probably the best thing would be to open the regular RS app like normal & sign into the 2nd account there, and then use the launcher to load a new client that'll sign into your main acct.

This is now incorrect, the update today introduced this feature. Really easy to load up 2 accounts now.

i wonder if jagex is going to implement the rule against alting again since they can now make it inconvenient enough for alting and botfarms
Nope, was a temporary inconvenience as they progressed further with the new account system.

Yes I was able to use the Jagex Launcher to place my main account and all alternates into the game. I was even able to trade between them.

I still have a problem logging out of the game. The problem is that, when I click to log out a tiny window shows up for me to "play" or "sign out". When I click the "sign out" all I get is the message that I can use the launcher to log into one of my other accounts. Since I do not want to log into another account, the only way I've found to actually log out of the game is to click the "x" at the top of the screen on my computer....as I would if I were closing off from some website. In doing this I keep wondering "Did the Jagex Launcher actually log me out of the game?" Can anyone explain this? Is this truly a problem or am I worrying without cause?

You're signed out. If you're signed in, you'll see the lobby or the game.

If it's the login screen, you're signed out.

When you click log out, you can just close the client.

The play option lets you get back into the game faster if you had to say, log off to use the restroom or something (it's something from mobile)
