I've been experiencing the same issue with the RS3 client for over a year now (Can't run game w/o compatibility mode on). It's quite irritating, as compatibility mode makes the game run like a complete potato. Was curious if anyone had any suggestions to resolve my issues. For further clarification, I do not get any errors when starting up the RS3 launcher, it just completely freezes at around 10% on "Loading Application Resources."
These are my PC Specs:
- AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
- NVIDIA RTX 3070ti
- Win 11 Pro
I've tried these solutions I've found proposed online--
- Check whether dedicated graphics are causing a conflict with GPU
My device does not have integrated graphics, nor is there anything listed other than my RTX 3070ti under display adapters in device manager. Yes my GPU is up to date.
- Wipe game cache
Cache wiped in both locations - C:\ProgramData\Jagex & C:\Users\{user_profile}\AppData\Local\Jagex
- Run game in OOTB Windows compatibility modes
Under properties for the launcher, I've tested in Win 7/8 compatibility modes. Does not fix.
- Run game as admin
This does not work, also my local Windows account is the install owner/a admin.
- Update OS
My device is actually enrolled into MS Intune, and if my device has not applied updates for >2 weeks, the device will auto-restart and apply them. So my device is never more than 2 weeks out of date with latest OS updates.
- Check AV/Firewall
There are no firewall-level rules that would prevent RS from running. AV is just OOTB Windows Defender.
- Reinstall Game
Did not work.
- Run game on Steam
Same issue persists
Any assistance fixing this bricked potato game would be appreciated.
