Hey there I was trying to get some help and also some info.
I started playing runescape years ago and here and there took a break from playing and didn't return for awhile. I recently tried to log back on to try and get closer to leveling everything to 99 and see the new updates and I noticed my name was changed from dillweed1095 to waz3hash9. Also the recovery email was changed to a different one, and that is not the email I had set on here. After seeing that I tried logging in to runescape to see if my bank was changed or anything like that and it said I was banned. So I went to my account status and it said I was banned over a year ago. Tried to appeal but I haven't heard anything back yet.
I guess my question is how long does the appeal process take now that runescape has grown.
I'm really wanting to get back on and get back in the game.

Hi there
dillweed4321

The reply to your ban appeal can take up to 7 days but it depends on the queue. It is often quite fast.

If the hijacker managed to put through a recovery email change, it means YOUR email is insecure because access to the current email is required if someone wants to put through a change.

You need to secure your email.
Change its password right away and set up 2-step verification on it to prevent unauthorised access.
Also, work through the points on the Security tips support page.

Please would you edit your post and remove the email you have posted. We are not permitted to post identifying or contact information in the forums.

Ok it's removed, what are my chances of getting my account back? Was really hoping to get on and play over the weekend. Does the jmods that look over the ban appeals work over the weekends? Is there a way to see the number of tickets or appeals currently in queue?

So my appeal was denied. Extremely disappointed in that decision. I don't see how jagex couldn't tell that why i myself was not playing runescape my account was hijacked and someone elts was using it, cant they see that during that time my account was logged onto another device or a different IP or something. Back in 2017 the exact same thing happend literally exactly the same and the jmod that reviewed it clearly said my account was no longer banned. I understand I should have made my account more secure but this sucks. Believe my time with runescape is over. I had so many hours in that account.

Ahhhh...
You didn't say at the start that your account had been banned previously then unbanned on appeal. :(

Unbans due to hijacker activity are a one time only thing.

The player is expected to secure their account after the unban and make sure it never happens again.

Up until 2016, account bans were fully permanent. There was no forgiveness for the account being hijacked. Jagex introduced unbanning due to hijacker activity but made it a one time only per account thing.
I am really sorry but a second hijack/ban is the death knell for the account.
