My pure was locked for a unknown reason. the account is 5 plus years old and i have tried recovering it as it said to do but jagex denied my request. i have put countless hours into making it and i dont know what to do as jagex has extremely limited resources to contact them

If you do make an recovery:

- answer 'only' the question and do not make a story
- answer in telegram-style and avoid superfluous texts
- recover the account from where it is created
- if you aren't the creator, but someone did that for you in the past, chances are slim to '0' that you will succeed

, accounts get locked because Jagex has detected an unusual login attempt.
Usually this means a hijacker has the login information and has tried to get into the account.
Occasionally the lock might be triggered by your own login if you are logging in from an unusual location.

If you know you haven't logged in from an unusual location then you need to suspect a hijacker.
The lock protects the account.
Now you need to do a recovery which will force you to set a new password.

If you were denied recovery, keep trying. Take note of the reasons for the deny and try to improve your next attempt with better information. The 'Account Recovery Denied' support page (linked for you by 2_Tron above) will help with some hints about the kind of information Jagex want to see.
