I'm making this post because my main has been banned for macroing around the peak of the pandemic and that was the time i was inactive.

I main RS3 but i decided to give OSRS a try again so the two games are tied into one account which is my main. My OSRS is just around level 15-30 before i stopped and went back to RS3. When the pandemic hit i took a indefinite break from the game around 2021, i just recently came back last December only to find out someone hacked into my account and botted/macro'd on my OSRS account which got a temp ban, but once it was lifted they did it again and this time it was a perma ban.

I tried to appeal explaining that around that time of the ban i was inactive and i said i main RS3 not OSRS. I feel like a simple stat check would prove it.

I did get a ping on my email that someone was trying to log in on my email, which is the same email i use for Runescape. I didn't think much about it, changed my email password afterwards. Cause who knew instead of taking personal information they would rather take my Runescape account from me.

I've had that account for years and it holds sentimental value let alone the items and hours spent on it. But whoever reviewed my appeal was adamant they made no mistake. It's infuriating that that one appeal is the end of it.

So to end this all up, i cannot re-appeal for the ban which was unfairly given to me since i was hacked, my question is, is there any chance at all to get the account back or that's just it? You get hacked, botted on, ban. Unless you have a name for yourself, you're basically screwed.

I also just want to add a post i saw on Reddit a day ago, a maxed out player botting in the stronghold and wasn't banned.

Hi there
Kakaroooch

When the ban appeal is being looked at, Jagex are looking for evidence that the account was being used by a hijacker at the time of the offence. For some reason, your hijacker left no trace and it just looked like you were using the account. This is why Jagex denied the appeal.

You might get the account back into the game one day. Jagex have started removing old macroing bans but players have to wait several years after the ban date before Jagex will do this.

It sounds to me like your email became insecure. Our emails hold the front door keys to our RuneScape accounts. :(

The problem with macroing and/or use of bots bans is that once you get a temporary one first, the next one is permanent for sure. According to what you stated above, this seems to be your case and there is no way around it right now. As Malua said, if you wait several years, you ought to be able to either appeal again OR Jagex may simply unban it to give you another chance.

All you may do now is ensure that your security settings are top-notch by following the tips and suggestions enumerated here: Security tips .

That's sad. I did see some previous posts on Reddit 4-5 years old, that those who "suicide botted" from a decade ago suddenly got their accounts unbanned. Apart from actual victims. I find it frustrating that they look more on the offences (even tho it's not me) rather than actually conversing with their players to get more info but would just close the ticket in an instant.

Their lack of player support when it comes to these things is absolutely abysmal.

And that's the last time i'm touching OSRS ever again. That version of the game is much more prone on getting your account jacked.

I did go through the offences again and i did find the bit where a 2 time macroing offence does warrant a perma ban regardless if you are owner who was victimized. And i found sound old posts about people having their "suicide botting" accounts unbanned from a decade ago. So that's something.

While i already did update my security, i won't be expecting much on Jagex to do anything about it since i find their lack of communication to their players really poor. And several dozens if not hundreds of posts to prove it.

Anyways, thank you for the replies. I'd just focus on a new account which is this one.
