My name was Ana1nABarrel; inspired by an in-game quest item of the same name. I logged in today after the update to find out my name has been removed and I must change it. No reason was given, no explanation. If the name is offensive then they should also take the item out of the game? Is there any way I can get my name back? I feel I am being targeted and trolled as I have been forced to rename twice in a row now with no explanation given.

No, I was just recently forced to change my name, and I figured maybe it was considered by someone to be offensive. So I spent all day finding a name until I found Anna1nABarrel. Not even 2 weeks later now I am forced to change my name again.

That is quite a stretch, because the name is clearly a reference to the in-game quest item, and that is not even how you would spell that word. Are they just deleting names that "could" be interpreted as offensive but clearly aren't? Is there just no way to present any kind of counterargument to defend my name? Why is there is no actual explanation for this action from the moderators themselves?

Yea, no at first I did read it as "Anna in a Barrel" but then I thought on it and odds are that suggestive is what I'm betting on. I agree with you, for sure but sadly I wouldn't hold a Jagex employee on having a better imagination than that.


As far as no explanation, in the Terms & Conditions -

They can do anything to us - especially display names, without explanation.

Under #6 Your Account and License

Paragraph 4
"When setting up an Account for a Jagex Product, you may be asked to choose a username that will be used to identify you to other users. For example, a Jagex Product character name. You must not choose a username that infringes the rights of any third party, impersonates Jagex staff or other users, which is deliberately confusing, offensive, racist, obscene, hurtful, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate or which breaches the username requirements specified in the applicable rules relating to the Jagex Product. We reserve the right (at our sole and absolute discretion), to change any username for any reason or take such other action as we believe appropriate. "

Anna1nABarrel is 13 characters, and I thought the max was 12 so you could not have had that name?

I remember that name but spelt with 12 somehow and i not a 1 because you or the real owner made the same post few years ago and said she was forced to change the name but given no reason why. She said she had the name for years not 2 weeks.

If Jagex thinks there is RWT going on with that name, then you may have been forced to change it.

Don't forget there have been corrupt J mods in the past who stole and sold names. (Google it if you don't believe me)

Contact them and ask why you been told to change it? Like you said if offensive then it should not have been available as it's not the first time with a variation of that name.
