Hello, ive recently got my account hacked and I suspect it was because it got linked to another steam account that wasnt mine. I tried contacting jagex's support to get to the bottom of this but i couldnt so I was wondering if it's possible to check the history of linked steam accounts or no.

Hey, aiontemplar.

If you want to see if they are any linked accounts that were not added by you, please follow the steps below and appropriately remove them if they are not recognized:

1. Go to the yellow/orange "
My Account
" or "Account" link at the top right corner of your computer screen:



2. Once there, head to "Linked Accounts" and click on it:



3. You will be presented with the image below. If you don't recognize any of the linked accounts, remove them. If you do, ensure that they are completely secured by following the instructions on the Security tips Support page for Google's 2-Step Verification; Apple's two-factor authentication; or Steam Guard:

A similar thing happened to me.

My account got hijacked.
Reported instantly.
I used recovery to get it back, set the authenticator.
Only to find it was linked to a Steam account of the said hacker.(He stole 150m from my account).
I since did all the above again, recovered account, changed password, then checked all the links = and ensured that they were all unlinked.

My only gripe. Is that when you use "recovery", in my opinion it should automatically unlink the account from everywhere else - and recover it.

I doubt you will get an answer to that from Jagex.

Was your RuneScape account already linked to your own Steam account? meaning, they removed your Steam link and linked their own?
If that is the case, it means your Steam account is insecure.

If you did not have your Steam account linked, it means you have been tricked into clicking on a dodgy link and have given the hijacker permission to directly access your device and, ultimately, RuneScape account.
They have got into your RuneScape account and set up a link to their Steam account so they can continue to access your account at any time.

Please work through the instructions on that page as they are very thorough. You need to ensure the hijacker cannot return.

I believe something similar happened to me, I had a 1b+ bank taken, of course immediately after, I changed the password, made sure my 2fa was good to go, and enabled a bank pin after a couple of weeks of playing and acquiring a lot of wealth back. It had happened again, but I noticed they only had gotten the worn items on me. I suspect they had access to my account, but not my bank because of the pin. So now, I am extremely paranoid of it happening again, to the point of if it does happen, I will lose all interest in the game altogether because of the constant setback. I noticed two linked accounts, one of which I was positive was mine, but a Steam account that I don't recall linking, but was possible.

I thought I would share my experience as well as ask since this has happened to you guys, have you had any issues with your account being hijacked again?
