I recently started playing Old School again and I was under the impression Runelite was greenlit by Jagex but apparently it’s not. I got a 48 hour ban for botting when I was 100% playing the game legit. I would imagine someone reported me at lava dragons because I killed them for a few hours training magic on my low level account (2 days old). I guess that going from level 13 magic using fire strike to level 62 over the span of a day is frowned upon. I was not afk and was even reporting other players that were cheating. When Jagex says “they have proof” of me cheating when I most certainly was not, it makes me question the integrity of this company. I hope a mod can clear this up and give me some peace of mind. Thanks.

You are still responsible for the plug ins you use.

Make sure you are using plug ins that are allowed.

Jagex doesnt show proof of macros as bot makers could then figure out how to make
macros that might bypass the detection system.

And as for Jmods.. they rarely post here.. this is community led account help.

your only avenue is to do an appeal but for a temp, you may be back in game before you hear
from jmods.

Also, you get 1 appeal.. save it in case you get hijacked.

Thanks for the response. I’m back in the game now but I feel uneasy about everything. I know mistakes happen but they should focus more of banning the people who are legitimately cheating instead of getting the legit players caught in the crossfire. I deleted Runelite and I’m using the OSRS client with Jagex Launcher. Also, I didn’t change anything on Runelite after I downloaded it. So idk if it was an honest mistake because I was grinding lava dragons for like 5 hours. I know there’s a ton of bots there and I was a low level account. It’s just frustrating that I never had an issue with this years ago when I played and now I get a ban right out the gate on my 2nd day back. Hope they look into it.

UPDATE: Go figure, appeal denied. What a joke of a company to not only wrongfully accuse someone of cheating and then DOUBLE DOWN by saying they know I was cheating because they were monitoring my account. If that’s the case they would have seen me talking and reporting numerous people who WERE CHEATING. It’s actually comical that they can’t tell the difference between a person using a program to cheat and a normal user killing lava dragons for a few hours to train his magic level. Shame on the people working at Jagex for banning innocent users with absolutely no evidence to prove it. Makes me not even want to play the game after enjoying it again for less than 24 hours.

MACROING AND THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE/HARDWARE

People also call this ‘botting.' It means using software or hardware that can help you play the game with the software or hardware doing things for you that you should be doing yourself. Our games are meant to be played by humans - if you cheat, you are likely to be banned, even if it is the first time you have broken the rules.

Please do read the '
Rules of RuneScape
' carefully, which can be found at the bottom of the website, including the '
Terms & Conditions
' which are equally important to know, for every player of the community.

... if Jagex/JMods allow plug-ins/add-ons to be used anywhere ... they would '
Officially let the RuneScape Community know
' on their website.

As there still isn't such an official message to be found anywhere on their website ...
'
all plugins used are used at your own risk and it may get you banned if they aren't approved
'.

My advise to you is ... take an account and for this one account only '
use OldSchool RuneScape's Official Game Client
' and see if it does come up with exact the same result, your account being banned for macroing.

Experience the difference ...

Appeal an offence ... <- (link) at '
Jagex's Support Centre
' for detailed information.

Offences can be appealed once,
if your appeal is denied the decision is final
.

Unappealable offences

Where a ban or mute is unappealable,
it means that the Player Support team have already performed a thorough review to confirm that the offence is correct
and that the account's user is liable for the activity, so no further appeal is invited.

It is not a fault of Jagex/JMods nor the RuneScape Community, as you have to check all of your means that you do use to play RuneScape.

My main account was banned 5 years ago. They provided me an appeal; I was young and dumb. It's so stupid to offer an appeal and deny it if there is no real intention of allowing players to right their wrongs. Pretty stupid system if you ask me. Don't offer appeals in that case, and if you do you can offer a temporary unban for the user to show they have stopped their habit. Sorry for your account loss, but that's Jagex for you. They have no basic knowledge of customer service.

The problem is, is that in 15+ years of Customer Service and 20+ years of gaming knowledge too many players that started at the wrong end of playing an online game (because of game abuse) still ended up at the wrong end of playing a game (after given a second chance) because they didn't learn a thing.

Players are able to prove the opposite, that they have learned many things by using other accounts they do possess and prove that they are able to play by the 'Rules of RuneScape' AND 'Terms & Conditions'.
