The 250 resource cap in Guardians of the Rift is too low. For players using the portal only method and mining in between portals, the cap is hit extremely fast. I think a 500 cap would be a better balance between allowing legitimate runecrafting strategies and disincentivising players from only mining training at the minigame.
EDIT: After playing more GOTR this week, I'm even more unhappy about the implementation of the 250 cap. Why? The main objective to reduce afker miners wasn't accomplished AND the cap negatively impacts genuine players.
1. When I play the game normally (~12 resource point games in GOTR worlds), I hit the 250 cap every game just from mining fragments, and therefore get no xp when mining during portals.
2. I have witnessed very little change in the number of afk miners taking spaces away from genuine players. I think there might be a small drop in afkers, but it is hard to notice. It appears the miners are content to still afk and just earn less xp per game.
3. I have seen games (usually in low player count worlds) where afk miners are intentionally throwing the games (letting the guardian become defeated) because the quicker games means that the 250 mining cap gets reset faster and therefore gives almost the same afk mining rates as before the nerf.
SUGGESTION: If the objective is to remove afking miners from GOTR without penalizing genuine players, there is a better way to implement the change. Remove the cap. Instead, withhold all mining and crafting xp during the game. There is already a contribution counter of 150 to receive the runecrafting xp at the end of each game. Use the same counter to determine if the player should be rewarded with their mining and crafting experience that was accumulated during that game.
