So the Forestry Beta has been canceled. Unfortunate, but I'll just give feedback based on the blog.
New Tree Mechanics
While this is a pretty big change, being punished for chopping trees was really not very fun.
Now can I chop some trees with my mates. Great! Keep as-is!
Events
Overall, the events themselves look good gameplay-wise. They seem like nice distractions and perhaps even divisions. I like how they act as a small item sink. Very good! Only thing I have to say is that I wish there were more, variation is nice.
And maybe bring back the the iconic angry trees? You know, the ones that broke your axe. Perhaps they can stun you rather than break your axe this time around, to avoid frustration.
Woodcutting Boost for chopping in a group
Easily the worst part of the blog. This idea chugs balls. I hoped Forestry would bring more life to forests around the world. This is just gonna make it so that everyone goes to one spot in one particular world. You already get more events when you are in a group, so why do we need a speed bonus on top of that? And we get this bonus for doing absolutely nothing. Bad idea, scrap it.
Tea Brewing
The effects feel kind of uninspired. Increased minigame rewards from drinking tea seems very random? Not a fan of the stat boosts either, don't we already have Potions/Stews/Cooking for that? I'd rather see a Brewing rework first.
Campires
Finally, a use for firemaking. And resting! Yeeeeeaaaaa, big fan.
Bonfires are nice too, but will we get less XP per log? I'd rather see slower xp per log than less xp per log.
Farming Trees
Finally, a suggestion. Not mentioned in the blog, but a bit of a suggestion from me. In the past, the benefit of Farming trees was that you'd have a personal tree, not affected by other players chopping it. Since this benefit will become irrelevant, can Farming Trees perhaps have a slightly longer timer before they are chopped down?
