Just completed the survey, thanks again for the opportunity.

I'm quite happy with the proposal however I would like the opportunity to be able to experience woodcutting with the current mechanics and hopefully this would be more opt-in for those of us who like the simple nostalgic methods of playing the game.

I do remember that Squid did state in the winter summit that the forestry kit needs to be on you in order for Forestry events etc to take place so that is a fair compromise :)

On that same note though, if I decide to afk from time to time will the trees have the same new despawn mechanics or are those mechanics purely during Forestry? As opposed to today's 1 in 8 chop down chance? Someone correct me if I've got any of that wrong.

As far as Forestry itself, I think this will be a fantastic addition to the WC experience. Currently woodcutting feels like it has limited use outside of perhaps Fletching and firemaking but those being buyable skills reduces the effectiveness of that too. The use of leaves is something very relevant and provides great utility.

I love the basic concept for this however this dev blog is littered with red flags.

What I like
I like the idea to bring in new training methods to sit between afk and tick manipulation. There is a clear gap for a medium intensity activity.
I like the idea of events, as they're very much like traditional randoms.

Killing woodcutting
My biggest concern with this update is that it will completely kill off afk/regular woodcutting. Whilst it will still exist, it won't be worth doing. This is exactly what happened with firemaking after wintertodt.
I think this could be remedied by making events an optional extra when doing regular woodcutting. That way players that pay attention can decide if they want to participate or not.

Buffing woodcutting
My next concern is how much this update will buff woodcutting. The whole social training reminds me of Bonfires in RS3. They gave out buffs that were required and made you feel like you missed out if you didn't use them. Plus they were worth more XP so there was no reason to not do it.
I think this could be improved by removing the campfires buffs and picking where the content will actually sit.

Reward Power
There are plenty of ideas for rewards, however I am concerned that many are too powerful, especially when combined. For example a leprechaun banking all your logs in your inventory plus a whole log basket.
I'm not sure how to resolve this. I suspect showing logs per hour and experience per hour next to regular methods would help us understand this more.

Reward Relevance
This blog reminded me of the Artisan blogs a few years ago. Lots of rewards that are tangentially related to the content or only fuel the content itself. For example arborist gloves are a big farming boost and I have no idea about the benefit of bees.
Perhaps start with forestry only rewards, plus a few like woodcutting outfits. Then see if the other rewards are necessary.
RIP Forums :(
Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.

I am probably late to the game with this question and feedback. However, I was wondering if forestry would expand on tree types or even bring woodcutting content to the wilderness kind of like how we got cursed magic trees back in the day with rs3? sorry if this is too late to be useful feedback. i like to click on it

I love this proposal and I’m excited to get out of the woodcutting guild after its release!

I left this feedback in the survey so hopefully it is seen there: I really think if the clothes pouch is just going to be made for the lumberjack outfit and other similar items are going to be released in the future for other outfits, then the clothes pouch should be renamed and themed around the lumberjack outfit itself.

If the clothes pouch will be made to store all outfits upon release (one outfit at a time, of course), then I think it could remain as the clothes pouch.

I like the gist of this but I do have several concerns.

1) Group buffs.
This will just kill-off existing Woodcutting and ensure that everyone is grouped together in the most efficient spot, probably on specific worlds too. Additionally, this is a free chopping speed buff. I don't see why this is needed.

2) Tea Brewing.
I love the idea behind it, but it seems like it'll just be a Spicy Stew where you get to control the boosts. This would make pretty much every temporary skill boost item obsolete.
At the same time, it also feels a bit underwhelming? Altough I can't really comment on in too much since the exact mechanics and bonuses aren't know yet.

3) Rewards.
Most rewards seem focused on getting faster xp. People dunk on Smithing a lot for being useless, but Woodcutting is honestly in a similar spot. Like, what do I get for leveling woodcutting? A tiny increase in chopping speed? Thanks to Wintetodt and Oversatured boss drop tables, chopping logs isn't worth doing anymore.

Instead of just focusing on faster xp, add some cool new rewards. And make a chunk of them untradeable and locked behind higher WC levels. (They cap out at 75 right now...)

I definitely would like more attention given to this aspect too. I like the core motivations of this update but I'd like it to be done in a way that allows people to train woodcutting in the current way more or less available. (even if the 1 in 8 chop down chance is changed).

Amazing content! Thanks for the possibility to share my opinion in the survey.

One thing I’d like to ask about Forestry is if part of others their campfire benefits will be available for ironman. I understand that the more “O.P.” ones should not be too helpful, but none at all makes this social activity a bit cruel. So that’s why I’m asking for a part instead of none/all benefits.

Forestry is a door to new possibilities upon woodcutting skill , which is amazing and has my total support.

My only concern though is what i understood (I speak Spanish my english is not the best one) on how is gonna modify the whole Tree Respawn System will affect the amount of time i can be without watching the game , I normally do wc when im studying or doing something else , this update will make wc a semi-afk activity more than the afk system that we aldeady have present in the game....
