How do I use Key tokens?

I've been playing this game on and off for a long time... And I've just been destroying my key tokens because it will give me the message: "You must use an earned key first...etc."

I just did use an earned key... and it still won't let me claim the key from the token. I honestly don't know what to do. Sorry if I'm sounding stupid.

Please explain this one to me, thanks guys.

You'll need to use up some keys before you can redeem the tokens. Treasure Keys are used in the following order: Daily > Earned > Bought. You must be below 10 earned keys (so 9 or fewer) before you can redeem any new key tokens that you earn.

To use them, you'll have to open up the Treasure Hunter interface (found under the Upgrades & Extras tab - the membership style icon on your game bar) and play through the game.
