I get 3 keys per day and I don't play for 24 hours at a time. So essentially, any person will receive 12 hours notice on average for the event. And besides, 24 hours is still only 3 keys tops.
The fact that it's available on the GE is even worse. So rather than participating in the treasure hunter, it's cheaper to purchase 1-2 bonds and buy it from other players.
That makes it even more bone headed.

Honestly though, some of these tokens are so inexpensive that a person could literally AFK archaeology to farm some quick mats and purchase them with minimal effort within 5-8 hours. There are some alternatives to buying bonds, although we know Jagex's preference would be for folks to go the bond route.
