This is easily the worst TH event I've ever seen. I mean, I guess a bad TH event means the game is less pay to win for a few days, but I am actually going to hold off on doing quests, my favorite part of the game, to avoid wasting the TH keys. So... thanks for that.

Update: I got 99 Firemaking the day before yesterday and managed to pull two small firemaking lamps out of the TH event! Because not only can you not use hearts of ice to stop this situation from emerging, you can win XP in the same useless category twice now. HOO. RAY.
