Basically there was a way for players to force purple gems and get unlimited 200ms from unlimited keys. What is Jagex going to say about this? Can we expect a statement now or do we have to wait until Monday?

Agreed. It is by far one of the biggest bug introducing massive amounts of raw gp into the game since the Nex drop rate bug, except this time, literally anyone could have abused it. There are many people waiting for some kind of official stance/statement about this.

Seeing how long it took to patch it, it almost looks like you liked all the influx of money from bought treasure hunter keys in that time frame. I'm guessing if you do not take serious actions against abusers, it might not end well.

Also, in one hand, you fight gp influx with a tax in OSRS duel arena, which is literally the biggest money sink ever in RS3 and OSRS combined, it was designed that way, and yet on the other hand, you let these things happens without batting an eye? I don't understand the logic in this. Anyway, the least we could have like I said is some kind of statement, and by that I mean more than an almost-hidden notification that the bug was patched in your recent patch notes...

It appears that I have found two official JMod statements on Reddit (maybe there are more on Twitter idk)

Hi everyone,
We’re investigating the impact of this activity at present, and will update you when we have more information.
Rest-assured, if there is evidence that individuals have abused the bug in question, then we will take action accordingly.

Hello Everyone,
This is an unfortunate bug and timing for the issue to occur - with it hitting right smack in the holiday season. I take responsibility for this! Our escalation process was used to get the issue hotfixed as quickly as we could. I will review the process with the team taking a look at our QA efforts prior and our resolution, find out what other improvements we can make.
Additionally, when things like this happen I want to make sure we are careful with our remedy. That we can identify the offenders as accurately as possible, and apply consequences accordingly. Would hate for us to make a problem worse.
Myself and the team will keep you posted on what we learn about this issue, impact and the remedy.
Regards
Mod Warden

This is not really a satisfying answer to me, but this is Monday following New Year, so I'll leave them some time to think about it. But the longer you guys figure it out doing nothing, the more people will get pissed...

Wow, if they do nothing about this. 100% chance they can log the players that opened 30 straight purples. Slap in the face to honest players.

They did a lot more than nothing in with the most serious bug exploits like the Clue Scroll Bug exploit last year:

"Firstly, we take all forms of bug abuse very seriously. Where there is clear evidence that an account has been involved in, or associated with bug abuse, we will almost always take some form of account action. To that end I can confirm that we have permanently banned 4 accounts and temporarily banned 2 based on the evidence we’ve reviewed. We have left no stone unturned in our investigation and those who seriously misused this bug have permanently lost access to their account.

Secondly, we fully understand the concerns you have all raised. We acted decisively to minimise the impact this bug had on the health of the game, and our initial analysis shows that the effect on the economy has been negligible. Once we became aware of the issue we immediately locked all accounts involved as a precautionary measure, allowing us time to fully investigate and review those potentially involved. We then removed as many illegitimately obtained items from the game as possible by:

Permanently banned the accounts which abused the bug

Permanently banning accounts involved in real-world trading linked to the bug abuse (over 50 accounts)

Removing illegitimate items from genuine player accounts & replacing the items with the GP originally spent (essentially a refund)"

THe Clue Scroll Bug exploits meant nothing to RS3 except the abusers got penalized with some of them getting permanently banned. It is likely the same case here.

Exactly as I mentioned and exactly like how the Clue Scroll Bugs among all the bug exploits in Runescape all these 19 years were handled. Some bug abusers, but no tall, got permanently banned, and all illegally obtained virtual items were removed.
