Tbh, it's more like "too much TH, not enough actual game updates"; in the last 3 months, over half of the "updates" have been patch weeks, even excluding a no-update week when Runepass was added (there was no actual game update nor even patch notes that week, only MTX). And it's not hard to see why; TH is a detriment to their motivation to work hard. > )

I'd agree. We have seen the rainbow promotion come back on numerous occasions, but the gemerator hasn't been reintroduced for quite some time now. This is likely due to the revenue they gain from each promotion. I would personally like to see gemerator return.

I do think rainbow promotions are oversaturated, however. I wouldn't mind seeing these once or twice a year, but the monthly basis we've seen it is a bit too much...
