Well guys lately I have been thinking about fansites in general and an idea occurred to me, What if we all build a website where we can all host our events/competitions and be able to give those players some king of recognition for wining an event?
The Website itself would be a xp tracker that updates every 10min or so and
it wont have some sort of forum or chat. so it wont turn out to be another community. it will also be more than some of the tracking websites we are used to see because the users can gain awards/achievements on that website and there could be like fansite related achievements, ex: "Edit X amount of articles on runewikia" or "Post X amount of topics on runezone"

I took the liberty of making a sample design of the site to give you guys a taste.

Benefits

For users:
1- users will be able to participate in events more often
2- users will Gain a historic of theirs achievements
3- users will be able to easily find the fansite scene

For Fansite staff:
1- Will be able to create awards/achivements
2- will be able to award users with those
3- be able to host events, with links to the thread on their fansite
4- will get more recognition

For Jagex mod:
1- there will be a feed for the events we want jagex to sponsor
so it would be easier for them as well.

I love the design work you have put into this, especially those signatures!

Although for this to work you'll need the support of most fan-sites and would require them to have some kind of API for the site to use.

I do like this idea though, maybe it could expand into a social website? Not like a forum but it keeps you up-to date on what is happening on social media. E.g. You don't need to have a twitter account but you can select which jmods to get twitter updates from.

No need for an api, most fansites cant provide it anyway therefor the site itself will have a admin login page. and every fansite will have theyr admin account to add events there. and i am willing to spend the hole month of august helping develop this if you guys are two. and we can all tweak it to be the best designed/scripted website ever!!

It sounds like it's heavily dependent on admins/individuals from fansites who will actively log in, add events, and manage them on this new website. If you only have a handful of people doing it, the website could get pretty bare. That's a potential problem I can see with it.

Another issue I see is whether users from these fansites are willing to check another website when their favorite fansite already has their events listed. Not sure if there's room for an aggregator when it comes to events. Maybe there is.

Interesting to see where this goes though.
