Hi guys,
I've talked about the guest stream schedule for Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays and having heard back from a few of you, I appreciate that the message hasn't really got out yet. I'm going to put a newspost out there that promotes the streams and from that newspost, link to a thread that explains in more detail what the guest streams are and how people can get involved.
Late last night (so please excuse any typos!) I wrote up a draft version of that thread and as it explains in detail what the plan is, thought I'd use you as my guinea pigs for it.
Of course, if you read and want to get in on the guest streams with all the fun stuff that goes with it, post on the thread or email me directly.
Hope you like the plan of action!
Paul
What’s a guest stream?
Guest Streams feature on the official runescape twitch channel on Mondays and Saturdays for RS3 and on Friday’s for Old School streams and 9pm GMT. Guest Streams feature runescape’s twitch community and can be about anything runescape related in any format.
What’s the aim of guest streams?
There are a few:
- provide a Twitch platform for entertaining and engaging content for players to watch
- create a group home for the runescape twitch community
- support and promote live streamers and their channels
- promote twitch viewing and the runescape twitch channel to new and existing twitch viewers
What can I stream?
Anything goes if it’s RuneScape related and doesn’t go against common sense and the runescape rules of conduct. Here are just a few of the approaches to streaming that we’d love to include: quizzes, tournament coverage, challenges, Q&As, interviews, reviews, walkthroughs, skilling sessions, PvP/PvM trips, competitions, giveaways, how 2 guides… the list goes on.
How do I get a guest stream?
get in touch with me by emailing [email protected] and telling me what you’d like to stream. If you enjoy streaming but don’t have a particular idea in mind, that’s ok, get in touch and we can work something out.
We’ll then work together to find a suitable date for your stream.
What support will I get from Jagex?
- We’ll be promoting guest streams, you and your channel to the RuneScape community through a combination of news posts, the runescape.com front page, twitter, Facebook, giveaways and the home page of our twitch channel.
- We’ll soon be able to give you a graphics template to instantly brand your guest stream
- We’ll provide prizes for you to give to viewers of your guest stream (more detail on that below)
- We’ll provide you with membership so that you have access to all content.
- We can help develop your stream content ideas
- if there’s anything else you need, there’s no harm in asking us. ; )
How do prizes work?
- Streamers can award prizes to viewers during their guest stream. Prizes include RuneCoins, membership and from time to time, t-shirts, concept art, mouse mats etc.
- The ability to give prizes to your viewers means you’ve got more options for what you can do with your stream and gives viewers an extra reason to check you out, watch your guest stream and subscribe to your channel so they can see more of you.
- If you want to give prizes in your stream, all you need is a fair approach to awarding them to your viewers.
- Prizes should support a stream, not be the entire basis for the stream.
- Abuse of prizes (giving them to yourself, unfair favouritism or nepotism etc) isn’t cool so please don’t do it.
- Unfortunately, not all prizes are available for old school streams as the delivery codes don’t work with Old School.
What are the rules of guest streaming?
- We don’t want to restrict your streaming and we’re not on runescape.com so generally, twitch rules and common sense should prevail!
- The odd swear word isn’t a problem but of course, anything that’s obviously offensive to any groups of people isn’t cool.
I would ideally like to have the stream schedule confirmed between two and four weeks in advance so that we can promote streams as much as possible. If I have a month of streams scheduled, there are then even more opportunities open to us to promote you, your stream and your channel.
