Spoiler for the Vault of Shadows mystery in Kharid-et
Anyone else sad that the ring of visibility isn't technically required for anything in Kharid-et even though there's so much talk of the shadow realm?
Specifically I'm thinking of the Vault of Shadows mystery, where so much of the lore is based on the fact that Sliske was the only one who was supposed to be able to free Trindine, even though the dials to access the vault room are in plain sight before casting the spells.
Unless the spells themselves are supposed to access the shadow realm, but the game doesn't really do a great job of communicating that... and even if that were the case, we would logically be able to see their contents with a ring of visibility anyway. I'd much rather both be required, except while the shadow pylons are active. I dunno, thoughts?

Don't we have 24/7 access to the Shadow Realm post Sliske's Endgame? So there's no need for the ring now. Or are the dials observable no matter what?
Ooooo that's the one quest I never completed. That would make sense actually, what with Sliske residing inside us. Glad I posted this to the lore forum
Other opinions welcome, I find this all very interesting. If it is in fact that we have 24-7 access to the shadow realm it would be a nice easter egg if Jagex makes that known with a tidbit of dialogue with Nabanik/Azzy when talking about this mystery. I only hope this is the case, or that Jagex is willing to update it so that it is... I haven't gotten there yet.

They are observable no matter what (I didn't complete endgame), but that is fine with me because quests and lore post-desperate times act as if you've completed endgame much like the start of the sixth age series. Gives newer players a little room to breathe even if breaking continuity, so I think that much is fine.
...provided of course that what you said is true about us being able to access the shadow realm post-endgame!

They are required there for something (unless you have Shadow Delver).
The guards that give you materials connected to the shadow anchors I know about, but they're not really lore-focused. Besides, you can just as easily wait until the pylon is active to access them, something you don't need to do at all with the Vault of Shadows mystery.

No no, they mean Sliske's gift, once you complete fate of the Gods, you can visit the Empyrean citadel and encounter Sliske in the meeting room. He'll give you a gift that allows you to see things without the ring.

Really! I did not realize this. Time to go get that gift.
