We kicked Sliske's butt, Sliske possessed our butt, we saw the squidfaced Elder God (glad I didn't call her that), and now we gotta prove that life is worth keeping. Yeah.
A lot of stuff happened.
So I watched someone else's playthrough and came across a point where we find Zamorak calling out to Sliske, then Sliske mocks Zamorak with all the bad things he did as he drops eight masks around Zamorak. Zamorak leaves after he's had enough.
So the masks dropped were called "Fallen Masks" and are dropped in a way to make a smiley face on our minimap. Interacting with each one gives a different word. The words that are dropped are in this shape, from top to bottom, left to right:
I Love
For You
More Than
Soul Your
(Again, in the shape of a smiley face)
"I Love For You More Than Soul Your", eight words for eight masks. Kind of a confusing sentence, but it becomes more clear when we connect the words in a way that it makes it look like a 3; the top connecting "I" and "love", the curve down connecting "love" and "you", the turn left connecting "you" and "for", the middle bump connecting "for" and "more", etc.
With this, we can put these words in a straight line and make out the sentence:
I Love You For More Than Your Soul
Does this mean that Sliske likes us?
Roses are grey, violets are grey, I'm in Pompeii, I'm lost.
The prospect of Sliske having some sort of creepy crush on us aside, I found it interesting how this was surprisingly similar to Jas' way of speaking with her Voices of Jas. Has Sliske been playing copycat? And if so, are there perhaps other things on which he's been imitating her?
(I watched Mod Raven and Shauny's playthrough, by the way -- the masks can be picked up in any order, but the intended message is definitely "I Love You For More Than Your Soul".)

Runescape isn't a dating site because the main quest line has a story of romance. It is true that Sliske is in love with us. Sliske has proven himself nigh immortal if his soul does truly live on. In which case, if both Sliske and the World Guardian cannot die, they have to end up together.
... if you say 'But I thought you loved me!' to Sliske later on in the quest, he replies with
'Ha ha ha ha ha! Love! A mahjarrat in love? Ah ha ha ha ha! I almost wish that were true. It would certainly make the universe a more interesting place. But then perhaps... I suppose I have never felt such contempt for someone. Never has anyone been such a thorn in my side. A constant headache that never goes away. An obsession that I have sought hard to wipe from my mind. So perhaps I have loved you. But that doesn't mean I have to like you.'
It's cute ❤️.

I don't care if he loved me or not. He was still a danger to the universe and an arrogant, slimy toad who I was more than happy to kick the living crap out of.

The thing with Sliske is he's insane, like actually mentally unwell, not Joker meme insanity. He switches from swearing that he'll be gunning for us in FotG after getting excommunicated to happily chatting with us in the Citadel and letting us see into the Shadow Realm. He's like a little kid, whenever something bad happens (like the Stone exploding), he screams he hates us, but then later he acts like nothing happened.
Some of that can be attributed to all the different writers coming at Sliske from a different angle, but if the whole Sad/Happy masks are meant to be reflections of Sliske, maybe he's just bipolar.
We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.

So Sliske claims Zamorak turned the others away from Icthlarin...Zaros says it's Sliske. Which is it?
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

Perhaps Zamorak was the one the others listened to first, then he took Sliske's advice on Zaros?

After Sliske turned the other (most of them - that is) Mahjarrat's against iccy, maybe Zamorak was the one to lead the charge? During Mpd Zammy was mostly insulting him, so i think he doesn't like Icthlarin much.
Of course, this is how i could see it happend.
Zaros: Had he known what he was truly dealing with, Icthlarin may never have brought them to Gielinor.
He tried to reign in their nature
, and it was not long before one of their number broke free. It was easy for me to convince that breakaway of my superiority.
Player: Who was the breakaway Mahjarrat?
Zaros: Sliske.
Player: Of course it would be.
And we all know how Zamorak feels about people trying rule/control others.
