This is a confusing thing because for years jagex has called other worlds by loads of different words. For the longest time they basically called everything its own dimension, its only since the missing presumed death quest that they begun using the word "planet" to describe worlds
The way i understand it is like this. Each world is a planet/moon in the universe/galaxy "runescape". The abyss is basically "outer space". Now this is slightly different from the ingame location "the abyss" used by runecrafters. This location is still in space but is a rift of sorts created by zaros from the demon hostilus and works as a teleport nexus of sorts to allow for quick travel through the universe. Realms are also planets or maybe locations on other known planets in some cases. Planes i always assumed to be another word for realm but it seems to now indicate a patch of space that could contain planets within it. This of it like a quadrant of space that contains a solar system that contains planet worlds
Different dimensions are something rather different, and slightly more complicated. The universe you play in could be called "the material dimension", but there are others connected to it such as the afterlife or the spirit realm (i'll have to double check this one, still not sure about it). Then there are things like the dimension of disaster which are complete alternate/parallel universes, similar to the main universe in structure but their story turned out slightly different
