This bothered me slightly in Children of Mah at the Ritual Site, and again in this quest at the Heart of Gielinor. Why is no one freaking out over Zaros' return? Didn't everyone think he died when Zamorak stabbed him?

Either I'm missing something and it somehow became public knowledge that Zaros is alive and has returned, or Jagex overlooked this. I'm too Unaligned to have a forum signature.

Zaros is relatively unknown to the NPC public. Remember that most of his lore and empire were burned or buried by the Saradominists and Zamorakians, so very few people are even aware that Zaros exists.

Senntisten? An archaeological dig, only a couple people from Varrock came to dig there.
Paddewwa? It's a sewer for noobs to train at.
Forinthry? Razed to the ground and is now called the Wilderness; heaven for Zamorakians.
Lassar? The Oracle lives there in a tent, nothing Zarosian there. And the place down south is the Saradominist capital.

Everything that is or ever was Zarosian is long buried underground or dead, millennia after the empire was destroyed. The Wise Old Man won't say anything, and only one Zamorakian has ever been shown to use its magic. And he got cornered by the Temple Knights. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

It is public knowledge lol. Pretty much as public as you can get. Remember Sliske had a giant sword stabbed into the ground by the Grand Exchange. In Children of Mah, he got a point. Tons of people would have seen the scoreboard. Obviously he couldn't get a point if he was dead, thus the only logical conclusion for everyone who saw was that he wasn't dead.

Besides, we know Zamorak, Saradomin, and Armadyl knew Zaros was alive because he made pacts with them. Seren obviously knew. Death would have known by nature of being Death, and presumably Icthlarin would have too due to his relationship with him. That's pretty much all the characters that would care I guess.
