In Nomad's Elegy, it's mention by Icthlarin that he's NEVER, not once in thousands of years, brought a single soul to the Zarosian afterlife. During Dimension of Disaster, it's mentioned that The Dark Imperator (a combination of Lornab and Zaros) devoured souls to gain wisdom and power. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

We do know that souls who don't feel as if Gilienor is "home" don't go to the afterlife here. They go to the afterlife elsewhere.

So it is possible that Zarosians consider another place to be where their spirits would end up.

It's possible that a true Zaroisan doesn't have an afterlife. They do follow the Empty Lord. Maybe there is an emphasis on empty.

Zaros, Sliske, and other Zarosians had command over the Shadow Realm. We don't know the extent of the access (and even perception) that Death and Iccy have there. So it is possible that the dead Zarosians go to a Shadow Realm equivalent afterlife, even ushered in by their own Shadowy version of Death.

Sliske does have an awful lot of wights these days. Maybe 1 reason why no Zarosian goes over: Sliske got them first.

Who's to also say that Zamorak's stabbing of Zaros didn't have another unintended side effect of not just hitting those Zamorakians involved in the uprising, but also cursing the souls of Zarosians.

Just to note - The Dark Imperator isn't a mix between Zaros and Loarnab. Its an alternative version of Loarnab that could have happened if Zaros never came to Gielinor.

Also it is most likely another escort. Thats what the QA afterwards hinted at.

I heard that Alathazdrar took Zarosian souls to the afterlife, rowing in the Underworld right under Icthlarin's nose. Some Chthonians may have eaten a few of the souls to get more knowledge and power, too.

I personally think the Zarosian afterlife is a place full of shadows which manifest themselves into whatever the soul is thinking about. For an artistic soul, this could include a theatre or gallery, while one who liked studying in life could end up in a library. Of course, this might not mean the place stays fixed as a library or anything else; the soul might be able to think of something else, like a restaurant, and the shadows change into that. The studious souls might have been targeted by rogue Chthonians trying to gain political influence in the empire, and art lovers might have been targeted if they wanted secrets to chasing up culture and art.

As for the one who sends them to the afterlife now, it could be Soran, since I can't think of anyone else who would have done it or have been stealthy enough to get past Icthlarin. (Soran uses the Shadow Realm; Sliske doesn't count because he would just take them for himself.)

That's what I've been saying! Death severs their souls but they never make it to Icthlarin, obviously serving Zaros results in some...unsavory consequences.

Can't be worse than being torn apart by hellhounds.

Zarosians are strongly tied into pulling the strings and watching from the shadows, a manipulative nature. So wouldn't their ideal afterlife be to watch over the world from beyond their lifetime?

I suspect it ties into the Shadow Realm as a sort of spectator viewpoint. Unable to interfere but able to observe those who still live. It could explain the ghosts that gave us the Shadow Sword, and possibly how the Curse of Zaros affected those involved with the Siphon.
