Spoilers for Sliske's Endgame and possibly the upcoming Battle of The Monolith.

Death: " I hear the crossing of swords and the warmth of light, then the coolness of shadow. These continue, light then shadow, until I pass ."

This is how Death describes that Saradomin will die. Seeing as Zaros is the "divine aspect of darkness (shadow?)" and Seren is the "divine aspect of light", and the upcoming Battle for the Monolith, is this when Saradomin will die? Hopefully not in my opinion, what do you think?

I think bad storytelling is when you use notable character death as a shock factor to replace interesting storytelling, and I don't really have that high of an opinion on RuneScape storytelling, so I actually expect Jagex to kill off Saradomin now.

They shouldn't have killed off Bandos. Killing off big influental characters is bad and it deprives the story of future opportunities. Imagine if they actually killed Saradomin, one of the most iconic characters in Runescape. It would be terrible.

I think you are interpreting it a bit wrongly. Death says that 'these' (light then shadow) continue until Saradomin passes, which oddly sounds like the immortal Saradomin will die of old age (after passage of many days and nights) as he wages an endless campaign to bring order to the planes.

I think that's a more 'romantic' interpretation, but not that unlikely. I suppose that's how Jagex could've possibly meant it, it but seeing as Jagex are not exactly masters of storytelling and dialogue, I think it's far more likely they meant those things literally; i.e: a battle between light and shadow.

Zaros’ suggests he’ll reach Elder godhood and die afterwards.

Saradomin’s is fairly curious as in Sliskes Endgame he talks about divinity being a game, about the pieces to sacrifice etc. This brings up an idea of chess, which features white and black pieces. The passing of light and shadow could be the pieces moving around him, indicating he is a piece on the board and no longer directing events.

Even then, Death says that 'these' (light then shadow) continue until Saradomin passes, which, under your interpretation, would indicate numerous battles between light and shadow before his death.

I don't think so, but I do hope you're right. It would be a terrible blow to the story to let one of the single most iconic characters of the franchise die in a miniquest.

https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/a=13/battle-report-pentember-4th#_ga=2.15294390.1855515102.1620907753-292976417.1616604328

So in the new report, Jagex makes a point of depicting a battle between "light and shadow", between Saradomin and Nex of all creatures. I believe this increases the likelihood of Saradomin being killed during this pre-EGWD event.

Did Jagex not learn from Bandos' death? Oh well, we'll see what they've got in store for us. Considering the Monolith Battle spoilers for those of you who've read them, we'll find out next week considering.
