I found one. If you log out/lobby while on an uncharted isle, you will presented with the following message upon re-entering the game:

You return to an uncharted isle. Any items that were on the floor have been taken by the sea.

I know this is a gameplay mechanic. But seeing as all items disappear, even the ones most inland or high up, perhaps the reason the Uncharted Isles remain, well, uncharted is due to them regularly submerging and reemerging (or maybe the area just experiences strong waves that cause the islands to literally wash away/change shape).

I'm trying to get to the bottom of the whole tide and bottles issue going on right now, so thank you!
