At this point, we’ve seen countless streamers get special treatment by Jagex, having their items returned and their accounts handed back to them within a day after being hacked, glitched, or bugged out. We’ve also seen the plethora of regular players that have had their accounts hacked and glitched, with their customer support ending at “we’re sorry, we can’t do that due to technical limitations.”
Why is Jagex lying? What’s even the point? We KNOW they can do it, we KNOW they can see the history, and we KNOW they have and still actively do return stolen and lost items. You just have to be important enough. Every other major MMO has customer support to help with lost gear and equipment, but somehow one of the longest standing MMOs actively lies to its players about the ability to do so.
I’ve seen friends that have played RuneScape for a decade quit after losing their bank to a hack. I’ve seen friends quit that their hardcore was killed from a hacker dropping all their items in wildy. I’ve had friends that refuse to play ever again after having their accounts banned from a hacker that turned them into a bot during their hiatus from the game.
RuneScape’s new account security is barely even a fraction of its lifetime, while our accounts were secured with passwords that couldn’t handle capitalization. That’s on Jagex, not the players.
I want real support for the player base. I’m sick of watching my best friends quit the game despite doing all reasonable steps to secure their account, getting hacked, and watching customer support tell them there’s nothing they can do when they actually can and simply choose not to because they’re not important enough.
Give us ways to undo the damage a hacker or glitch inflicts on our accounts because we know you can and do for others. If I have to watch another one of my friends quit the game due to Jagex’s refusal to help I’ll just quit too.
