OSRS began around 2007, nearly 20 years ago.
Yet some of the mechanics haven't been updated since than.
In game logistics that seem outdated and downright illogical.
So I want this thread to be used for us to discuss recommendations
to improve the overall gameplay for our community at OSRS.
As someone whose played this game since RSC, I
a quality supporter of Runescape am qualified to critique,
& confident in my ability to offer a fresh outlook on old infrastructure.
Impending revamp to the close combat system utilizing the 'stab', 'slash' & 'crush' bonuses : resistance ratios to balance certain weapons that have been obsolete, and challenging players to switch up the weapons depending on monsters they face.
To summarize, I suggest monsters resistances stagger in terms of their crush slash and stab bonuses, in tandem as certain weapons balance for example scimitars are unfairly equipped with additional slash bonuses than their respective class 4 speed weaponry,
namely maces and swords (formerly short swords).
Also renaming the longsword cutlass could better differentiate the 2 "swords".
Initially awareness of the combat system could reimplement itself by providing a clearer exmplaination on how these various combat mathematic formulae work during tutorial island.

My suggestion is to balance scimitars with maces and swords, and increase monster bonuses especially in the f2p world to offer more costumization and variation to close combat. In addition to potentially reform the combat sector of the tutorial to better elaborate on the mathematical mechanics. As well as renaming longswords to cutlass or another similar name like Rapier or Katana. Battleaxe too has become obsolete so rebalancing them along with "longsword" is needed.
It doesn't make sense that scimitars are universally more powerful at dps as much as they are now, & by switching monsters resistances of close combat styles is important if weapons like mace & sword are worth using.
Believe you can achieve your dreams, no matter how far out they may seem, anything is possible that's righteous can be rightful, if not here-now next time around the continuum.
