Let us be honest. In the OSRS community, diary armour is NEVER worn for its defensive properties, it is ONLY worn for its supportive benefits. This is because the defensive stats found in diary armour is not adequately scaled to the effort put in place for obtaining it. Players with level 4 diary armour deserve better stats, as the criteria to achieve this armour makes basic sets pale in comparison.
I strongly believe that the diary armour stats should at least reflect:
1 black / 2 mithril / 3 adamant / 4 rune
INSTEAD OF:
1 steel / 2 black / 3 mithril / 4 adamant
The only argument against this may be that diary armour is free, which could theoretically affect the market... however I feel that the market will be unaffected, due to the fact that diary armour can not be high alchemized.
