The basic idea of the raid would be that you could only obtain high Tier loot once per week or at some time interval. This would be similar to the style of loot system that was in Destiny back when raids were first released for that game. I'm just saying Destiny as an example I think that the system should have its own osrs identity.

The raid would still be accessible to run at any time, but the loot everyone is looking for would only be available during your first raid of the set time interval. I know this takes away from the rise-and-grind mentality that the osrs community has but, it would allow for a harder overall raid due to only needing 1 completion for a chance at the best loot per time interval. I also think that limiting access will help with the longevity of the content. limited access will prevent burnout and get people hyped to login to due their " weekly " raid content.

I know now is not the best time to be pitching this due to the game fairly recently getting a new raid and seemingly aggressive power creep that has been coming to old school community recently. I was just seeing interest and seeing if anyone else has any adds or suggestions to make the idea better.

the content is already limited by how much free time people have to dedicate to the game and how often the can bring a group together to do raids.

Plus if you limit raids to 1 rare item per week like that then Jagex will need to create some other content to satisfy the players as they wait a week to be able to go raiding again.

Not to mention that this is an online subscription based game, making it so that you can only get one item per week means that if 1 person in a raid group gets a good item, they aren't going to want to come back until the week is up meaning that you need an even larger network of friends to be able to raid successfully.
And then you just hope that they're willing to buy another month of membership just for a shot at potentially 4 rare items in that month.

An even bigger point you're forgetting here too is that limiting the amount of raid items coming into the game is going to make the price of them skyrocket.

tl;dr
- This would make people far less willing to raid after getting their once per week rare item.
- It forces people to pay for longer subscriptions in order to farm items they need.
- The price of the time-locked raid items is going to skyrocket.
- It specifically punishes end-game players who are done with most the other content

No support.

I appreciate your feedback I have a few counterarguments to your points.

-limiting the raid will allow people to look at other content other than just the raid.

- finding raid groups will be more difficult for sure as people will only want a shot at the mega loot, but interacting with new players is a great way to grow your friend group/ grow new communities.

-Current raids can take multiple months to receive the mega rare you are looking for average loot for a scythe 1/520, tumeken's shadow at 1/600 depending on invo, and the Tbow at 1/800. This makes me think late-game players won't have a problem with paying for the membership if they are already grinding for one of the other raid's mega rares.

-The price could be an issue one solution would be to make the drop rate so that a similar amount would enter the game as the other raids rares do or increase the rate you could do the raid to every 3 days.

-this would punish late-game players that have nothing else on their account do to. it would be a lot more rewarding for people with limited time to play the game that still want to progress their account.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can see how this being a full-blown raid with best in-slot gear would be finicky to make work. I do think that some raid like limited content would fit well into the osrs environment.

Limiting the raid is deteimental because it's primarily high level accounts doing this sort of stuff and if they can only get good loot once per week the only other end-game content they have left is the solo bosses basically.

And finding new players for a raid because someone else has already got their once per week loot can easily become a nightmare.
Look at BA for example when you get part way through and end up having to restart because one of the players doesn't understand their role and keeps making mistakes.
Yes there's a point to be made about it bringing in new players but at the same time there's very few people that are going to want to sit there and spend 50 minutes trying to teach someone the raid mechanics while the party constantly wipes only to realize that they've wasted their time.

If it makes it easier to get the raid items their prices are going to plummet, and if it makes them less frequent due to players getting 1 per week the prices are going to skyrocket, it's going to completely break the already fragile economy of end game equipment.

plus i don't think it's a good thing to be punishing players that have put in enough time and effort to get to the point where this is their main content left to them, they should be rewarded for putting that much time in not punished.

No. Like, fuck no.

Arbitrarily time-gating content is shitty, anti-player design. Want to play more than once per week? Fuck you. Can't play this week? Fuck you. All it does is pad the length of the game (and your subscription fees), and force you to play when the game says you can rather than when you want to.

I wasn't saying a hard-time gate like you only have 3 hrs to do the raid on Tuesday at 5am. Hell, you could still run the raid/other content multiple times a week with friends but just for your standard white chest loot. hell, you could start the content right before the timer resets for the loot, race the clock then do it again right as the timer resets. The idea behind it was you wouldn't have to feel locked to specific content till you get the drop and be excited to get a group of friends together each week to do the limited content.
