Hey, so for some context, a couple of my friends started playing recently, and we were talking about clans and the clan system and he said he couldn't really see any point to it, other than to talk to others. As a seasoned player and clan owner I know there is a lot of
other benefits to being a member of a clan, but I must admit that, in essence, he's correct - When you strip the clan system back to its basics, even after the recent system overhaul, it's still just a fancy chat system with ranks, with the potential for so much more.
TLDR - Once a week clans bid on, then fight over areas of the osrs map in instanced, safe, PvP battles. The winner of the battle 'owns' that part of the map until another clan takes it from them. Clans can only bid on territories adjacent to their own, the stronger clans will be able to expand and own several parts at once. Rewards are visual only.
Territory Wars explained
Bidding Phase
On a Wednesday, clans had 2 hours (between say 7pm and 9pm) to bid on the piece of the map they wished to fight for, all bidding information (Both the clan that was bidding and the amount being bid) was anonymous until after it was over, to ensure fairness. Once the bidding had ended, the map would show who had won the bidding on each part of the map, and the time and date the war was to occur. The wars always took place over the weekend.
For any clan who bid on a territory, then got outbid, the gold is returned to them.
The Map
The game had one large map, similar to that of Runescapes, which was split into different sections that ranged from a Level 1 territory to a level 3 territory. Level 1 territories - These were the important areas within the map, for example Falador/Prifddinas/Varrock/Ardougne
