Dear RuneScape Developers and Community,

I'd like to address the important topics of real world trading (RWT) and the purchase of bonds, which have generated significant discussion within our community. As passionate players who value fairness, we seek clarification on whether buying bonds is considered a form of RWT.

RWT has long been a concern in gaming communities, including RuneScape. We kindly request clarity on the consequences and severity of punishments for engaging in RWT, as well as an official stance on whether the purchase of bonds falls under this category. Understanding the game's policies regarding bond purchases would greatly contribute to fostering a transparent and fair gaming environment.

Bonds have become integral to the RuneScape economy, providing players with an alternative method for acquiring in-game wealth. However, concerns have arisen regarding the potential impact of bond purchases on game balance and fairness. We kindly ask the development team to share their thoughts on the intended role of bonds, any limitations or considerations in place, and whether buying bonds aligns with the principles of fair play.

Open communication between developers and the community is vital to foster a harmonious gaming environment. Addressing these concerns and providing further guidance would not only alleviate uncertainties but also demonstrate a commitment to fair play and an enjoyable gameplay experience for all.

We express our gratitude to the development team for their dedicated efforts in shaping the world of RuneScape and creating an immersive experience. Your contributions are truly appreciated. Through constructive dialogue, we can work together to uphold the spirit of fair play and continue building RuneScape into a thriving community.

Thank you for considering these matters. We eagerly await your insights and thoughts on these subjects.

Warm regards,
Sashka Q

I always understood that Bonds were released so that players could "buy" gp without resorting to RWT.
If Jagex sells the Bonds then it is sanctioned and ok.
The secondary market of players selling each other Bonds is also ok as long as they don't use RWT gp to do so. That RWT gp has not entered the game via Bond purchases. Sashka Q said :

Is that the royal "we"?
Punishments: Jagex does either a warning, a 2-day ban or a permanent ban
Official stance: read the Rules of RuneScape (linked at the bottom of this page). Is there a mention of Bonds in there? No. Because the purchase of Bonds is not RWT.

I am trying to connect your post to the thread heading. I assume your account received a two day ban.
Your temp ban might have nothing to do with a Bond purchase. Have you looked at your other game activity?

Thank you for your response, Malua and Mastercas8r. I would like to address the situation concerning my recent ban for two days on the grounds of real world trading (RWT), despite my non-participation in such activities. I want to clarify that I have obtained bonds exclusively from the Jagex official homepage and have received some in-game wealth, both in items and a portion of GP, from my brother and a few friends. However, a few days ago, my account received a two-day ban and 10 million GP was deducted from my account. The ban seems to be related to a moderator comment, and I am genuinely curious if this is a misunderstanding or some kind of setup, as I am confident that I have not violated any rules. I would like to express that I harbor no negative emotions regarding the ban I have received, nor do I assign any blame to any individual within Jagex or the wider community. My sole objective is to seek clarification and shed light on the circumstances that appear to have transpired. Regrettably, the consequence of this ban is that my account now carries a mark that potentially compromises its future safety and security. In the event of a similar occurrence or an erroneous accusation, there is a genuine concern that my account may face permanent suspension. I wish to emphasize that as a dedicated player who has actively participated in the RuneScape community since 2004, I have consistently adhered to the established rules and guidelines, with only a few isolated instances of inappropriate language occurring in 2007. My utmost priority is to safeguard the ongoing viability and enjoyment of my account, given the substantial investment of time and effort I have dedicated to its progress and achievements. If you bought Bonds directly from Jagex, it was not RWT.
However, I would be very suspicious of the wealth you received from the other players. Did one of them give you ten million gp?

Jagex punishes the account that receives the benefit of the RWT. If one of your friends gave you RWT gp, your account would be punished and their account would be flagged for future rulebreaking activity. They might not have a ban just yet.

Thank you, Malua, for your response. I appreciate your clarification regarding the purchase of Bonds directly from Jagex, indicating that it does not constitute real world trading (RWT).

Regarding the wealth I received from other players, I understand your suspicion. I must admit that one of my friends did provide me with quite a bit of wealth. However, I was not aware at the time that it may have been obtained through RWT.

Your insight into the potential consequences and flagging of the other player's account for future rulebreaking activity is duly noted. It is essential to maintain a fair and equitable gaming environment. I will take it upon myself to communicate with my friend and address this matter accordingly.

I must admit that this incident has left me feeling apprehensive about engaging in trades with other players, as it could inadvertently raise suspicion. It is disheartening to realize that my aspirations of becoming a moderator may now be compromised due to this occurrence. I have always strived to follow the rules diligently, and this setback has been particularly discouraging.

I genuinely value the integrity of the game and hold great respect for the role of a moderator. Moving forward, I will redouble my efforts to ensure strict adherence to the rules and guidelines set forth by Jagex. It is my sincere hope that through continued dedication and adherence to fair play, I may regain the trust and opportunities I have lost.

Once again, I thank you for your response and for providing me with further understanding regarding the consequences and implications of RWT. Your insight has been invaluable in guiding my future actions and decisions within the game.

It's also worth noting that you could potentially appeal the mark made against you to see if you can garner any further clarification as to what the alleged circumstances are that involve you. That is if you are unsure about why this ban occurred/you feel the evidence has not been made clear.
