When Jagex brought in the GE tax, they mentioned about using the money to help stop sinking prices.

Ge tax has been out for a while and we've seen prices drop dramatically due to botting over the last 10 years, with minimum ban rate.

My understanding is, they was going to use some of the ge tax to buy items and delete them from game?

As many of us know its near impossible to even profit from a skill.

Has Jagex taken any steps to use the gp from the GE tax?

GE Tax was about the economy. OSRS did it in conjunction with ERB, in the efforts to create a balanced economy for the general population over the long term.

Unfortunately, shortly afterward, they abandoned that stance and switched the focus to a small group of players with very short term vision. They tried to create more bubbles. Hence, not only do we see all sorts of bots, and newly unbanned ones, we also see easy resources raining down OSRS every minute.

The bubbles all burst shortly. The OSRS economy has died, and of course, OSRS stopped to even mention one word about the economy.

There is no point to even re-visit or make amends to GE Tax when there is no economy to talk about.

I was thinking about this also. I thought we were going to get regular updates on which items were being bought by Jagex to keep the economy healthy. It didnt have to be exactly, but just some info maybe once a month or so. Like they did when we could first buy the extra bank storage,Jagex showed the figures on how much GP we had spent on storage.

I do feel like the economy has crumbled and it hurts seeing some of the prices, mostly because OSRS means so much to me as a player and i want to keep playing for as long as possible with a healthy market so we can all enjoy skilling or PVM or whatever fellow Scapers enjoy.

Thank you and stay safe.

What items? You better believe they are loading everything into whatever new items in the most current and upcoming updates. It is like the old Asian MMORPGs. They don't care about the future or the past.

The economy is dead, but games don't just die right away with economies dead. A lot of games don't have economies. OSRS is probably not one of those games that can last long without a living economy. We will see.

I would like to see more stats on the effect of the tax like they did in newsposts shortly after it was introduced into the game.

Nevertheless it does seem that the entrance of high volume skilling drops on boss tables remains an issue.

Good luck with your wish, but when OSRS didn't want to show the stats of gp sources and sinks before the GE Tax update, realistically don't expect to hear from them about any stats now that shows their system is not working and OSRS's economy has collapsed.

Unfortunately this is a lose-lose situation.

Let's say magic logs are a heavily botted item.

Skillers deserve to be able to make money from magic logs.

So the G.E. tax is shifted to consume magic logs and other resources for once! No longer is Jagex only helping the PvMers!

Well, what happens is that the magic logs get deleted, the botter gets the gold. Nothing actually changes, since when people buy a piece of equipment, they do it to keep it. When people buy resources, they do it to consume it. The botter gets the gold and the magic log gets consumed in both scenarios.

Even if it did manage to raise the price of the magic logs, guess what? That just makes the magic log a more attractive item to bot.

So, as I said, it's a lose-lose. Jagex needs to take a hardline stance against RWTers and people that buy gold, in order to cut off the botters at the source. Banning bots is important but it's an arms race and with recent developments in AI it's only going to get harder and harder. The GE tax isn't helping. I think it would be better if the gold was just gone.
Don't forget – RuneScape members get TWO free spins a day instead of the usual one!
