Hey! Sorry to add to the high level of bot threads, I can see the forums are littered with them.
I know I'm going to be immediately told to report them and move on.
I know a mods probably going to give me a whack if I name anybody.
I've just noticed a couple odd things while I've been hunting bots in the GE and had some questions.
The first question is:
I've noticed some extremely static naming conventions when it comes to gambling bots. Most gambling advertising bots right now seem to be named "GAMBLING TERM X1Y2" for example. Clearly the botters are using a very basic naming system. These bots should be easy to find. While banning anybody in that vein of names might be a leap, they could be tracked. Jag could temporarily limit these terms in character creation to disrupt the creation of these bots. I report all of these bots, but it's a little silly to have to report every bot using this name convention when it would be FAR easier for them to verify this and ban/track characters following these naming conventions.
Is the team aware of this, or is there some way to better report this?
My other question might be a little more reasonable for this forum.
Alright, so I've seen that we won't be penalized for false bot reports, but I'm wondering who is to be reported in IRL purchase scenarios. The other suspicious behaviour ive noticed is what I believe to be the delivery system for IRL trading. Lvl3 bots walk up to a high level player and say "'Player' trade me." All the same rigid message. No conversation. I believe I also witnessed a conversation between a seller and recipient requesting 2 pets. They discussed an amount (not gp) and a moment later two bots walked up to the player and asked the player to trade. I took screenshots instead of reporting this because I was unsure of who to report.
Do I report the seller? The bots? The buyer? All of the above?
A very long post. Sorry for yet another bot post.
Thanks for any help.
