I've been away for some time now, and those few years ago I found that Runelite was legal to use and also very handy. I was wondering if someone can tell me if it is still legal, and if it's worth using? I can't recall where, but believe I read that the regular OSRS client has basically implemented their own Runelite. Is this true?
RuneLite is an approved client to use. I do use it and it is extremely helpful because of the add-ons created by the community. All add-ons are checked and verified to not break any of RuneScape's rules before becoming public. As for the original Jagex launcher, I am unsure of that because I do not use it.
Yes it is still around and now officially supported through the Jagex Launcher as one of the 2 default client options. It still has a ton of very useful plugins, including some of my favorites like Tile Markers and Aggression Timers.
For some reason some people keep saying it’s dangerous to use, even though Plug-ins for it now have to go through Jagex before they can be implemented. So the only way to compromise your account is to make a very stupid mistake like downloading an unsupported plugin off of some sketchy phishing website. At which point, you’ll probably be banned shortly after you’re hacked, because unsupported plugins are banworthy now. So I guess, you know, just don’t be an idiot? Seems like a low standard but hundreds fall short of it daily; I see their “I got hacked/lured” posts all the time on here.
