I was falsely accused and banned for "macroing." I was cutting yews behind the Varrock castle and was hit by a "bot busting" ban. Now, the problem here isn't as much the not being able to play OSRS for 2 days but the emotional burden and accusations of lying by everyone. During my ban, I wasn't even able to post on the forums. The judgmental language that was used on the appeal page, such as "highly evolved bot detection systems have caught you and trained experts have looked at your playing and we can say with 100% certainty that you have botted" isn't helpful. It's an outright lie meant to scare people into not appealing their false bans. If your systems aren't working, Jagex, remove language like this from that page.

I will NOT tolerate frivolous convictions and false accusations of lying, especially when the people who accused me of lying were themselves ones who said they have botted without being banned.

I was told that if I "repeat the offence" I will be permanently banned. This is currently causing me anxiety because I now have to live in constant fear of being banned simply because something I do looks like botting. I changed my character style from the default "Bob" and make sure to not continue wearing the items needed for easy/beginner clues, but it seems ridiculous I have to do this.

This is surprising and disappointing because I thought Jagex were "good guys" and not the kind of game devs who will ban people because it's funny. I do know another game that uses shady AI auto-banning with no way to appeal bans and I honestly hope Jagex isn't going down this path. AI is easily fooled and automated detection systems should never be trusted blindly.

Because I have dealt with this sort of thing before, I do know that some if not most of you still think I am lying and think this entire rant is funny for some reason. There is absolutely nothing comical about this at all and if you are laughing at this I do genuinely hope that karma hits you hard.

For a game of this scale you do need some sort of automation, this includes automated bans and automated appeal replies. Else you would have to hire dozens of anti cheating specialists to cover just ingame cheating. That team is tasked with ensuring cheating is kept out of the game, and in order to do that effectively sadly enough there will be a few false positives among the lot. As any other game studio / company, Jagex really cares about doing things the right way, so when they discover that they made a mistake they will revert their ban. The cost for 1 player to be banned is nothing compared to the cost that the company would be facing if they falsely banned someone as it may put them off from playing entirely, or spread word that this game is unfair and bad to play.

If you haven't already appealed the ban I recommend doing so Life is like a camera: Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot !

which client were you playing on?

if you were playing on runelite be very careful in downloading plug ins

the game scans your pc as you play the game

the scan while playing looks for third party software on your PC

appeal it if you can however i recommend only playing on the official jagex launcher

Yeah I understand their POV with the systems etc, what really triggered me was their aggressive attitude with it, as if this is non-negotiable and final and will not be investigated further.

I was playing the Official client which makes this even more bizarre. The appeal is still pending, it says the ETA is 10 days (the ban itself already ended as it was only 2 days.) I do hope this offense will be cleared because I don't want to risk a permanent ban due to another mistake.

I also got falsely banned for macro, on my fresh start account "DMM2023TUBBY" First a 2 day ban, then I was able to play 1 day and now a permanent macro ban. Nothing to say other than I didn't bot. Sent an appeal and of course no reply, sent a tweet to JagexSupport and also no reply. Will now post on reddit, make my own post on here, and tweet them again. This is stupid af we are legit players.
