Hi, all. I've been grinding hard in the depths of the Inferno in hopes to eventually defeat Tz-Kal Zuk and join the elite of PvM. However, lately I've been experiencing horrible lag to the point the Inferno is totally unplayable. For some reason, this lag I experience is mainly present during the daytime... When I get off work around 3:15am and hop on around 4, I can play just fine, 1-tick flick, off-tick flick, the works.

Earlier this week I was totally kicked off during Wave 68 triple Jads. No "connection lost" error or anything, just INSTANT FORCE LOGOUT. Tried logging back in and received the message "Either your account is still logged in or the world you were recently using has become unavailable." (W362). I could not log back in without switching worlds. When I did, I was outside of the Inferno...

What's going on here..??? Are these issues server-related? Or is this a personal hardware problem? (I use an integrated GPU on my Dell Optiplex. Never given me issues before). I ask around about the force logout after getting back on and nobody else seemed to have the issue on that world. The lag issues have been happening for the last week or so now. Please help because only making progress in the AM's is very frustrating and affecting my day life. It's hard to do my best when I can only play completely exhausted and tired. I just really want to get the cape and being as I've made it to Zuk healers already, I'd say I'm about there.

Thank you for your time,

Preli

EDIT: I'm going to look into my ISP to see if it's something on their end. But I've used my phone as a mobile hotspot for my PC and my gameplay was the same. So I really don't think it's the Internet at least not solely, but I still have to investigate. I've NEVER had lag issues on RS with my setup until recently... that's why I'm thinking this could be hardware... And for the Inferno, you CANNOT have lag spikes. You just can't...

probably your internet, during night time its not being used by many people so its fine, but during peak times its busier

always check your connections first before thinking its on jagex side. especially when no one else seems to have this issue.

Hi, TENEBRI, thank you for your feedback.

I can see how you came to that conclusion, but I live alone, have had the same Internet provider, speed, etc for quite some time now. I can stream many things at once in HD without issues, day or night. But for some reason (and this has only been the case the last week or so now), I simply cannot play RS during the day anymore. If I turn on the tick metronome, it goes crazy every 5-10 seconds. I'm not saying this is a Jagex issue, in fact I'm not saying what the issue is at all because I simply don't know! What I do know is you can test your Internet speed online and mine is just dandy. I've been playing RS on/off for a good 20 years now; I've experienced my share of issues involving internet connection and I've never experienced anything like what I have been recently...

I'm going to order an entry-level GPU for my SFF PC. Nothing crazy, but if my Integrated graphics card is the issue this should solve it. Of course I'm not entirely sure how the time of day plays a factor here... but I'm running out of options.

Also, there are threads online of players experiencing the force logout situation and not being able to log back in without hopping worlds, just as I did. So far nobody ever figured out what it is. But this is happening to people... I had a friend tell me earlier he died to Zulrah this way a while back. I'm just wondering if anybody else is experiencing these issues or if they have before and figured out what the problem was.

Update! TENEBRI you were partially correct. My issue was mostly Internet related. But it had nothing to do with anyone else using it and I'm pretty confident in my current speed plan. HOWEVER, My PC used a wireless adapter USB to connect to the Internet. I bought it roughly a year ago or so and it was starting to give me inconsistent connection speeds. I got an ethernet cable and direct wired to my PC, which is now running testing several times faster than before. I was running 20mbps during the day and 55mbps at night. Now I'm 140mpbs all around just by switching to the cable.

I did order that GPU though too, since I've always had a rather weak integrated one and was starting to affect gameplay with lag in several games (offline ones so it's definitely a graphics issue). I went with an Rx 550 4GB GDDR5 128bit low profile for SFF. Before, I'd be lucky to get 60fps with the GPU plugin on Runelite. Now I can run 117HD OSRS at 150fps and play games at 1080p with no lag :D . I ended up capping it at 60 though in the settings to avoid unnecessary GPU usage and keeps it nice and cool.

Needless to say, my issue has been resolved. If anyone else is having similar issues it's probably your wireless adapter whether it's internal or USB. Just direct wire your computer and try again. If that doesn't work, your graphics card could be getting weak. You don't need anything crazy for OSRS. My choice was a sub 100 dollar video card. DON'T FORGET TO MAKE SURE THE GPU YOU ORDER IS COMPATABLE WITH YOUR CPU, YOU HAVE THE CORRECT PCIE CONNECTOR ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD AND THAT IT WILL FIT INSIDE YOUR PC!

I still never figured out what the force logout issue was... I just hope it doesn't happen again. Getting through the waves is hard enough. Getting instant logged out for no apparent reason on one of the final waves is a real slap in the face and I hope no one ever has to experience the stress and frustration that I did.

Now that my issues are resolved it's time to get my cape ^.^ \/,,
