I was wondering if Jagex hires because I see a lot of players get hired and I'm not sure how playing the game = talent to make good content, regardless, if I have a CS degree from top 10 school, would I get hired? I play and can see the potential and vision in osrs.

If sailing does come to be, I want to be part of the team that helps makes content for the sea parts of osrs.

Can you stream?

Not "a lot of players" getting hired, I think Mods Manked and Light are the only for profits gamers turned Jmods, and AFAIK Mod Light didn't stream OSRS before OSRS hired her. The other Jmods might have played Runescape among perhaps hundreds others, but who don't play games?

Mod Lee, before his contract expired, was a major (might still be?) contributor of youtube videos on Runescape 2.
"When history witnesses a great change, Razgriz reveals itself... first, as a dark demon. As a demon, it uses its power to rain death upon the land, and then it dies. However, after a period of slumber, Razgriz returns, this time, as a great hero"

I follow Jagex on LinkedIn. I am very interested in the business aspect of this game as well as their behind the scenes staff initiatives. Frequently they post job openings on their LinkedIn page. The other day there was one for their legal department!
Carry 29 Shrimp?! Are you crazy??

Carry 27 shrimp and 2.1 billion cannonballs? Now that I can do...

Jagex may have posted a lot of job openings, but don't get too excited as very few of them have been actually filled with new hires the recent 2 years.

There used to be over 450 Jmods 2 years ago, but the number was down to between 400 and 450, and total wages of salaries have dropped from £31.5 mil to £29.1 mil or a net decrease of 7.6% in payroll.

Most of those job openings were ended up filled with internal Jagex transfers like (e.g. Mod Tyran moved from an Anti-Cheating Analyst to Product Analyst) and existing Jmods assuming more responsibilities (e.g. Mod Ash adding the responsibilities of Product Manager left by Mod John C).

Jagex has been seen hiring more Jmods for their new games and Jagex Partners though, including high level management ones.

They're trying to transition to be more diversified. That takes a wide range of skill sets. They're also being cautious as to not over invest and over employ the game because if it isn't profiting the game servers shut down. Life is an illusion that time goes on forever.

OSRS didn't hire many new Jmods and the ones they hired were mostly interns and new college grads, except a couple of old OSRS Jmods they rehired for different positions.

RS3 may have money to hire a few more because they don't spend much money in advertising, promotions and sponsoring content creators. and their business model is far more profitable.

I think the most Jmods Jagex actually hired are for Jagex Partners and their new unannounced games. Perhaps this area is where job seekers should really be looking.
