unsure where I meant to post so....

New to OSRS have played RS many moons ago
currently 2days 8hrs game time

I've currently been just completing quests 69/156 cause its apparently really good to do at the start for easy levels and unlocks stuff. I've been kind of hitting a wall with quests now though due to levels and equipment. So its had me thinking if I should have a break from Questing for a bit but have no idea what I should.

Welcome Back!

As questing is good for any new player to start off with because of the xp bonus that you can get early on, it can become tiresome after a while and start to feel burnt out.

I always suggest starting a goal for you to work towards. Did you have a favorite mini game back in the day maybe that is apart of OSRS? Maybe go and try some of the new mini games we have for skills, Wintertodt for firemaking, Tempeross for Fishing. There is even setting a goal of you used to love to kill blue dragons in the Taverly dungeon etc.

One recommendation I would make is probably train magic, unlocking teleports are the world makes things much easier and less tedious. This combined with jewlery and other items that are now obtainable (Ardy Cloak from Achievement Diaries for example) helps traversing the world immensely and makes tasks much easier.

I am an advocate for having fun so don't focus on the best xp/hr methods but maybe an old way of training you used to do or monster slaying that you found nostalgic.

Most importantly have fun and if you get bored or want to try something else, set a new goal and go for it!

There's lots of options. One thing that's kept me playing RS for so long is all the different things you can do. You could train skills, try PVE or PVP. Since you're working towards quests then it's probably a good idea to focus on skills that are required for the quests you have coming up. You can check out the wiki for more info on which skills would be best to train for questing. RS is also a social game, maybe you could find a clan or something that shares similar interests with you to hang out with.

Do some quests that give you some gp so you can upgrade your equipment for harder quests perhaps? Unfortunately, OSRS nowadays is all about pvm. Skillers can't make much gp to progress as resources rain from all the "bosses" and even more new "bosses" that drop what skillers used to sell for their progression.

Just an update to this post, (I had/have been following an optimal quest guide for ironman)

So I decided to do an easy clue I had in my bank which I have no idea how I obtained it (apparently this is also the 2nd one I've completed), it had Flared trousers in it which sold for like 3.5m lol! Sooooo.... I trained herblore and fletching a bit then went back into the quest grind again today I completed Darkness of Hallowvale.

I probably might quest until I complete Fremennik trails/isles in the guide which means like 16 more quests which will get me to about 96/97 assuming these recipe of disaster ones count for each step. or ill stop at 100 total completed. Looking into the guide that's about when it starts to require training a lot to gain more quests.

I shall update in a weeks time with my progress if I remember, thanks everyone =]

Like you, I created this account to follow the quest lines. All my other accounts when heavy into skilling in the beginning.

The two clues you mentioned came from an easy quest. The one you do not remember doing was the quest and the reward was the easy clue you got after words.

Most of the steady but sure methods of new player money making methods are gone now. For instance, rune running is now dead. I can still think of certain old 2007 way (although arguably not fun) to get decent gp quick so new players can at least buy some better gear for questing.

Garbage collecting is still quite viable seemingly. Plenty of players still leave junk on the ground over many popular slayer locations. This method actually gives more gp/hr than traditional resource gathering as we see the like of raw sharks hovering around historical low of a trashy 350 gp each.
