Hmmm, it 'should', I use a mace over-ride but pretty sure damage type is the sound effect (like slashing sounds with sword)

I also use 2h sword which is normal stance, while using noose wand for hunting, nothing like plummeting a massive sword into a kebbit for its hide, meat, and bones. Fight for

MYSTERY SOLVED

Go to customizations. Select animations. Clear all animations. Close out and check again. You can add animations until you find out which ones conflict with the golden cane.
