Short and simple: There really aren't many options for having an entirely golden weapon outside of being very lucky with the promotion that can net you a golden godsword. I think being able to get cosmetic overrides for gilded runite weapons would be pretty neat. It would allow people to have golden weapons and it wouldn't be a lot of work to create them, as the gilded armour in-game is just a re-colour of runite and the same method could be used to create the cosmetic overrides.
It'd be a minor amount of work for Jagex to make them and I'm sure some people would be very interested in purchasing them, myself included. Adding little things like this to the game will allow for further character customisation and ultimately, make the players look that much more unique.
