Grinning Idols

Grinning idols : ancient relics uncovered by archaeology, broken into pieces by the passage of time… and rich in XP for multiple skills. Pick them up on the Squeal of Fortune from Friday 18th of October !

You’ll see idol parts up for grabs for the next ten days - bodies, legs and arms for free players, and bodies, legs, arms and heads for members - made from a variety of materials. Each piece can be activated for XP in a range of skills, or - if you're a member - combined for more XP!

You need a body piece to start combining the pieces, and each attachment of legs, arms and head (in any order) yields progressively more XP when the resulting idol is activated. Assemble all four parts and you’ll have yourself a grinning idol – activate this for the biggest XP gain of all!

Each material is associated with a group of skills:

  • Bronze : Cooking, Firemaking, Hunter, Slayer, Strength, Divination

  • Jade : Construction, Defence, Herblore, Mining, Woodcutting

  • Gold : Agility, Crafting, Fletching, Ranged, Smithing

  • Ivory : Constitution, Magic, Prayer, Runecrafting, Summoning

  • Obsidian : Attack, Dungeoneering, Farming, Fishing, Thieving

Please note that the base amount of XP awarded by the bronze idol is the same as the other materials, meaning you'll gain experience in one more skill than the other types, but slightly less in each.

If you don't wish to gain Combat XP, simply right-click the idol and toggle off the Combat XP before you use up the idol. Please be aware, though, that the XP won't be redistributed among the remaining skills in the group.

Only idol parts of the same material can be assembled, but they're tradeable on a one-to-one basis so you can exchange spare pieces for the parts you need.

You'll get the most XP by assembling and then activating idols composed of as many of the four pieces as you can gather. However, if you have any left-over pieces, or you're on a free-to-play world, you can always use them up individually for a small XP gain.

Idol parts are on the Squeal of Fortune from Friday 18th October 00:00 GMT until Monday 28th October 23:59 GMT . After the 28th, it will be possible to trade, assemble and activate idols for XP until the 8th of November , after which they'll be removed from the game.

For help finding equivalent times where you are, take a look here .

Everyone gets at least one spin per day, and can earn more through gameplay. Click here to find out how. If you'd like more, you can purchase spins here , by redeeming Bonds in-game, or by clicking 'Add Spins' in the Squeal of Fortune interface.

Does look identical to Djinn lamps - probably would have been better from a financial point of view not to waste time designing a "new" promotion when an old on could have been recycled. That's the point of SoF anyway, right? :P

So no monsters drop them? This is just more spin-to-win content?

And yet you probably wonder why you won't have a 2013 golden joystick award in the front lobby of your building. I hope your taking really good care of the ones that you won when the Gowers ran things.
