LAWS:

At Phoenix Tale, we have three laws, and three laws only:

1) Follow all Jagex rules.

This includes, but is not limited to, things such as scamming, luring, botting, etc. If you openly admit to such behaviors or admins believe there is sufficient evidence then you will be asked to stop or be removed from the clan, depending on the severity of the action.

2) Respect all of your fellow clanmates
.

Clanmates come from all walks of life and we have members of different ages, genders, religions, nationalities, jobs, etc. While people won’t always be best friends just because they are clanmates, we expect the clan chat to stay a friendly atmosphere. Any behaviors that are seen as intentionally and repetitively harmful or bullying towards clanmates will not be tolerated. This includes admin abuse of powers. Any admin accused of abusing their privileges or attempting to use their position for personal gain will be investigated and may be demoted or kicked. Clanmates also work hard for their gp, so there is a low tolerance for begging and admins are not responsible for refunding any gp/items loaned. Asking for assistance is, of course, always welcome. Warnings will precede any mutes/kicks except in extreme circumstances.

3) Real life comes before Runescape.

Behind every Runescape avatar is a real person, and those people have real jobs, families, and responsibilities. As such, admins will never place activity or participation requirements on clanmates. Event and citadel participation is encouraged but not required. While we do occasionally remove inactives to keep our roster up-to-date, let us know if you are on an extended break and we will keep you added.

We take the above laws seriously and think that the combination of the three leads to the best community we can offer. Admins operate under the idea of enforcing rules only when necessary, and we generally behave as community leaders rather than rule enforcers.

Clan Policies

Below are a list of clan policies that are intended to provide transparency on how the clan is run.

Promotions:

1) Promotions are decided every two weeks.

2) Promotions require a majority vote from Clan Council.

3) The criteria for promotions become higher as you ascend the ranks.

4) The recruit rank is used for new and inactive clanmates.

5) Stripe ranks are newer or less active clanmates who make up the majority of the community, promotions are easier and focus on time based in clan.

6) Star ranks are trusted members of the clan, you will need to be friendly, helpful with newer clanmates, and an active participant in clan activities.

7) Loyalty and time spent in clan alone can also be used as reasoning for promotions, but activity will speed up this process.

8) You can only be promoted one rank at a time.

9) Ironmen/Alts will receive the same rank as their main account.

10) If you feel you missed a promotion, you are welcome to ask why. We can give feedback, or we may have missed your name. (There are a lot of clanmates, so we sometimes miss a few!)

11) Promotion to admin rank will be preceded by a trial period of two weeks, where the clanmate is expected to meet the responsibilities of admins. Performance will be evaluated at the end of those two weeks.

Demotions / Inactivity

1) Demotions are rare, typically only done for inactivity.

2) Inactivity is defined as no experience gain in the past 2-3 months, no Runescape membership, and no notice of absence to a council member.

3) Stripe Ranks who meet this criteria will be removed, but are welcome to rejoin at any time.

4) Star ranks who meet this criteria will be demoted to stripe rank and re-evaluated at the next Council meeting.

5) Admins who become inactive or fail to carry out responsibilities may be demoted by a majority Council vote with at least one Leader approval.

6) Clan Leaders who become inactive or fail to carry out responsibilities may be demoted by a majority Council vote and majority Leader approval.

Mutes / Kicks / Bans

1) Clan chat mutes are given in emergency situations where a clanmate is acting inappropriately and refuses to heed multiple (2-3) warnings. Mutes must have majority approval of all currently online Council members with proof posted to discord. If only one admin is on at the time, then that admin can issue the mute. Mutes will be removed once the situation has been handled or revisited by the full admin staff. Any clanmate attempting to bypass the mute via alt accounts, lobby, etc., may be kicked. Emergency situations include, but are not limited to: purposeful and directed hate speech, intentional bullying, causing arguments in clan chat after being warned, attempting to scam or encourage rule breaking, etc.

2) Kicks can be given to clan guests in emergency situations where a guest is acting inappropriately. Kicks of guests do not require majority approval of all currently online Council members, but proof must be posted to discord for review. Any guest attempting to bypass the kick via accounts, lobby, etc., may be banned. Emergencies are the same as defined above, but guests are only required to be given one warning.

3) Kicks can be given to clanmates by majority Council approval. Clanmates are only kicked for severe violations of Phoenix Tale laws or prolonged inactivity with no Runescape membership. These will typically be decided at meetings, but may be decided in-between meetings as necessary.

4) Bans can be given to individuals by majority Council approval. Bans are only given in extreme situations and are typically decided at Council meetings. Non-emergency bans are permanent and not subject to future review.

Admin Council Policies

1) Admin meetings are held twice a month to check on clan health and admin activity.

2) Any changes to the rules requires a majority vote from the clan council.

3) Unless given prior notice, clan council members have 48 hours to vote on any policies discussed at a meeting, otherwise their vote will be counted as abstaining. This applies to promotions/demotions as well.

4) Events and competitions (and prizes when relevant) must have details and dates scheduled at the beginning of the month to the best of one’s ability, based on clan interests.

Discord

1) The discord rules are the same as clan rules, but is generally more lax due to participation being optional.

2) Discord names must match Runescape names before being given a role. Clanmates should tag admins when making a name change in-game.

RANK STRUCTURE

Clan Council

The caretakers and guardians of Phoenix Tale. They make sure the clan continues to grow and prosper and assist all players with general game-play. The Clan Council includes those clanmates who are admin+ rank, and have volunteered their time to help manage the clan.

They conduct most of the day to day operations such as chat supervision and clan assistance. They meet twice a month to discuss the health of the clan and manage promotions. The goal is to keep enough clanmates in the Council so there is usually at least one admin+ rank member in the chat at all times. As such, we expand the council on an as-needed basis. The Clan Council is divided into two sections, leaders and admins. Both halves are equal in terms of privileges, but have slightly different responsibilities. All Clan Council members are expected to recruit at least one clanmate every two weeks, as well as help host the weekly events. (Clan Leaders have additional duties related to management and have their event requirements waived.)

Privileges:
Can temporarily mute clanmates, kick clanmates (either in emergencies or at meetings), set citadel goals, check citadel contribution, adjust clan notice board, promote clanmates, and manage discord server
