Why can't F2P have some nice Quality of Life items too, like Grace of the Elves or Porters, I mean that would be most beneficial to everyone involved, then if you increase members logout timers to 30 minutes it would push me in the direction of spending money on membership, it would be nice to have some Herblore potions become F2P like the Perfect Mining Juju potion as it really helps in terms of click intensivity, if you add Wicked hood teleports and Dwarven tools items to a specific treasure hunter promotion ran once per month it would certainly push me in the direction of spending money on keys again, cosmetics just suck in this game so no thanks I'm out there.

If you added QoL updates from the Hero pass to the game for free I think it would overall boost player moral however these are end game activities and I doubt that would draw in new players but for existing players to stick around it would be a treat, in terms of how to bring in new players I would argue some F2P bosses that are more geared towards fun as oppose to click intensive mechanic intensive one shit kill tanks would be beneficial, this could translate well to bosses within P2P as you could add some end game bosses there that provide certain benefits to other bosses like beating this certain group boss gives you a 20% reduction at zammy/kera and beating this group boss gives you a -1 step reduction on clue scrolls for the week, this would be more beneficial than putting it behind a MTX pass in my opinion.

Things you could put in the MTX pass is more like cosmetics or even TH items as mentioned above, I'd definitely be willing to spend money on the pass if you added wicked hood teleports and dwarven tools in place of the previous buffs meaning you get like 250 wicked hood tokens per 5-10 levels and 5-10 Large Dwarven tools boxes for the next 5-10 levels, lamps and stars would be a huge bonus to the Hero pass as well although some might complain there, I'd certainly enjoy it though.

Making level grind a little bit less would be more beneficial to me than the other stuff that was previously in the pass as I believe those things should have just been added as QoL updates for members for free, I'd rather be completing levels faster considering leaderboards don't actually mean anything anymore that way the grind of certain items like the GotE and LotD upgrades wouldn't seem so bad, it sucks grinding for 20 years on levels then grinding for 20 years on items lol it really does, I would even consider a Hero pass drop rate enhancement as a bonus so long as you spend the 3 bonds, I know this would ruffle some feathers but everybody and their momma would buy the hero pass if you gave us a +5-15% drop rate increase in the Hero pass, would there be drama, hell yes, but like I said, everybody and their momma would buy it and play through the whole thing and longer just to get that buff alone especially when it comes to trying to get Niche items like the GotE and LotD upgrades.

If they added these things to Free Play you know what would happen. You wouldn't be incentivized to actually hold up your end of the bargain. You say you'd be interested in "Paying" for membership if they gave these things to free players. If you had them then why would you pay for them?

The reason most things are members is due to the fact the items to either farm or create them are in member areas.

To create a grace of the Elves necklace needs the following components...
An Alchemical Onyx Necklace & the level 6 Enchanting spell for casting enchant onyx / hydrix.
To make the Alchemical Onyx Necklace needs a gold bar (this one is easy) and a Alchemical Onyx gem.
To create the Gem needs the following...
107 invention (to start invention needs 80 smithing, 80 crafting & 80 Divination).
1 onyx
50 Fortunate components
50 Refined components
10 precious components
level 91 crafting.
level 87 magic for the enchantment.

With the above only 1 thing would happen. If Jagex did make the item free play. The amount of gold it would take for a free player to acquire it would be outlandish for the common player.

Current GE price 79.9 million. It would sky rocket, As demand would hit the roof and the materials for them aren't exactly easily sourced, there's luck involved that you get the components you need while disassembling items.

Incentive is a dual-edged sword.

Does Jagex push membership? Of course they do. No doubt they would be delighted if everyone bought membership. The reality is not everyone is going to purchase the expansion to the game, for whatever reason. Maybe these players prefer the simplicity of the free game. There is nothing wrong with that, just like there is nothing wrong with Jagex offering extra content for members. That is fine, and it makes sense.

On the other hand, if your free game sucks - if it is needlessly punishing to free players - many new players aren't likely to feel incentivized to pay for an expanded version to see if the game still sucks. More likely, they will be incentivized to find a better gaming experience. For every new player they turn off, that is one less membership they will sell.

It is a balancing act. Jagex surely wants to incentivize membership. They should also want to incentivize participation in F2P. Without a strong free-to-play experience, any game risks becoming stagnant. Stagnant games often become dead games.

For the most part, I do think Jagex gets the balance right. Their free game offers a lot of content, particularly when compared to other games. In some games, F2P is nothing more than a demo...something nobody plays for very long. Certainly not for years.

I do believe F2P would benefit from some added content. Raising the F2P cap on all non-elite P2P skills to level 20, for example. I do not think we need Porters, TBH. Giving F2P GOTE would be out of the question. If you really need high level content like that, just buy a membership. Otherwise, enjoy the free game as plenty of us do.
I've been putting out fire with gasoline! ^_^
