This is a terrible idea. Hear me out.
It's great to have things to strive towards. Things to reward genuine kindness and devotion. These types of rewards in a forum environment on the other hand are a bad idea. They frequently invite users to comment on absolutely every forum post with arguably useless or unhelpful advice, opinions or comments.
It feeds peoples egos, the enemy of ourselves. I just read a few posts and I can see the many patronizing parasites of the forum world. I'm sure the employees who are scouring these posts for constructive criticism must be tired of having to read around all of their useless interjections - all for a badge. It's really sad, genuinely. Because really there should be NO badge for 2,500,000 posts. Nobody should be that engaged with a forum other than an employee. It's the same culprits you see in every post and you'll likely see them respond below
they live here on the forums, interjecting useless information. lol You read all of their posts and realize that they're just meaningless and just ONE MORE POST to add to the tally.
Keep these badges but make them private. Have different badges that are a reward for helpful, constructive behavior that are rewarded by other humans, not algorithms. This could be a "Helpful" button attached to comments.
There are - real - genuine - comments coming from a real place of concern and/or compassion. If you're one of those people, thank you for being you.
