I regret it sooo much!
I no longer can log in with my user name
I have use a verification code EVERY TIME I LOG IN!!!!
This shard lie is a ruse to get u to join this crap!!!!
Crap crap
Not sure about the additional security? I just get the feeling that the new Jagex account will be like big brother. Personally I'm doing everything possible not to join. Including getting my shards the hard way

Yes you cant log in using username that was told to you before setting up the jagex account (jagex account and launcher are different)
I dont know why you need to use auth every time. I dont at all.
And yes the shards were a way to get you to join something that is a lot better security.
Why would they tempt you with something that will make you angry lmao
why? let me see.
1. Free advertising platform for jagex products and games and merchandise that cant be avoided like the website can
2. Spyware to harvest data to sell to third parties for money
And for the user?
well, we have to put up with adverts, we have our data harvested, we have to do an extra step to play RuneScape, the launcher takes up hard disk space, and uses background memory as it lingers after the game has been launched for no reason at all (other than harvesting your data of course) unless its manually closed
the real question would be why WOULD anyone want a launcher? they say its better security, but how? it never asks me for for my authenticator code ever, just an email code
so if my email is compromised, i lose all my accounts? doesn't sound "more secure" than having several different emails for different accounts with separate authenticator codes for them, with the option to have emails as back up confirmation accounts for each other
"better security" is just a lie to get people to swallow the bitter pill of all the disadvantages as above
yes, I've done it myself, because as people say, eventually we will have no choice anyway

After migrating, you have to re-set up the authenticator in your Jagex Account settings if that is something you would like to make use of. Since its a different account from your RuneScape account, it wasn't able to be carried over. Once you do that, you'll be asked for your authenticator code or a backup code at login to the website or launcher, and email verifications will be disabled unless you explicitly turn them back on.
I highly doubt Jagex is looking to harvest information with their launcher. The security benefit from the launcher comes from only having one login portal for Jagex Accounts (the website) rather than 3 with RuneScape accounts (the website, the RS client, and the OS client). There are many solutions out there to better secure HTTP endpoints from various attacks that wouldn't be compatible with whatever protocol the game client was using for logins prior, which may have been something custom.

yes it is better security.
yes you dont need to type password or auth on a trusted device.
no they wont be compromised. they would still need your pass for jag account, (which hopefully is different if not go change it)
they wont be able to get into your acc with your email.
