Myself and many others in the community are not happy about the new shared cooldown beteween concentrated blast and sonic wave.
At first it may not sound like a huge deal because wrack got an upgrade at the same time, however, myself and many other long-time mage users beg to differ.
This new shared cooldown completely disrupts the flow of mage rotations, leaving us with too few basic abilities to fill in the gaps in our rotation.
The only options you really have for basics now, that still benefit from the effects of sunshine, are concentrated blast, dragonbreath, wrack, chain, and tuskas. And even chain is not an ideal ability to be using as a main basic. You get pigeon-holed into planning your whole basic rotation around around g conc, d breath and wrack, and this is not enough for high level bossing. We need more basics to fill in the gaps when these abilities are on cooldown.
In mage, alternating between concentrated blast and sonic wave for basics has always been an extremely important part of your core basics rotation for high level bossing. This has always been important if you want to build adrenaline while maintaing decent damage at the same time.
Things were fine when conc blast and sonic wave didn't share a cooldown. We had all the basics we needed and the flow of mage felt much more smooth. This new update ruined that flow and mage as a whole feels clunky now, with not enough decent basics. And sonic wave is pretty much dead content for high level bossing as a whole because of this update.
It should be reverted
. Me and many others agree. They are already nerfing FSOA apparently, so why did this need nerfed too? Wasn't that already going to be enough?
As a mage user of many years, this particular update ruined the feel of mage for me. Even worse than the upcoming FSOA nerf already upset me, in my opinion.
