I've been playing Runescape for roughly 19 years on and off. I've seen the game grow, change, expand, and utterly eat it's self update to update over the decades.
I was pretty hyped to hear about the Necromancy Skill being announced. I remember forum threads about this as a player suggested skill coming up time and time again here on the forums. I was here release day, trying out the new content, and managed to pull up to level 60 or so on the first day. I have to say that as the skill goes it is very fun to play. There's a little bit of grind, but in Runescape that's to be expected. So my rant is not about the skill, the skill seems pretty great so far!
What has me aggitated is that there are always a select few people that seem to abuse mechanics to absolutely ruin game play for others. Today I'm grinding out a slayer task in GWD, when a necro pops up (I'm using Ranged). This dude turns on Soul split, and proceeds to pull aggro on the entire room. This happens from time to time, and most of the time, I'll just take a few more kills, and when that necro realizes im there, they will generally respect that, and not continue pulling absolutely everything. - I'm perfectly content to sit in a corner popping one or two things at a time. This particular encounter did not go that way.
Me: dude, I've been here for an hour, can you not?
Necro: And I'll be here for 5 minutes you can wait.
Me (with 11 kills left of my task) You're lack of patience does not excuse your disrespect
Necro: You'll be fine
[Anya] Ha! What a looser. Did you see that guy? So rude! You should punish him. (You should punish me too...)
Now I have to say that Anya was right on point, and it was absolutely perfect. And my crossbow's ability to talk to me was a key diffusing factor in the whole situation, however, I did in fact have to wait for this guy to finish what he was doing before I had a thing to shoot at again. Which is wrong. No one player should feel its acceptable to act in this fashion.
