why are the jagex accounts so painful, all of my information was deleted and attempts to log back in after converting my account were met with incorrect detail messages , even asking jagex support was a pain. rant over.

rem to delete all logins from the launcher the reload the information into it.

Tried several different combinations for a password and nothing has been accepted. If a password needs to be long or unique enough you need to write it down to remember, doesn't it make the need for password security moot?

does length alone = better security?

8 character w/ number & capital & character is quite secure...

you dont retype the password every time you log in. another security feature.

has nothing to do with your choice of password or the combination of anything, the pure lack of the simple instruction of completely logout the launcher and clear any saved passwords was not listed on the to do list made by jagex. also note you no longer have google auth if you follow this flawed security method, and there is no reverse once you go through with it.

You're setting up a new account, so you would need to set up a new authenticator. That isn't flawed, but rather its something that simply can't be transferred from one account system to another.

Google authentication still exists though, you just need to go into your Jagex Account settings and add it again. Just be sure to save the backup codes somewhere safe once you complete that. That will protect your entire Jagex Account (rather than just a single RuneScape account).

so many problems with the jagex management accounts
they failed big time on this 1

is what I was told by tenebri yesterday
well they sure as shit didn't fix any of the problems or make the directions clear at all
nobody and I mean absolutely nobody would have signed up for this bs if they said you cant use your old log in anymore
my old password was 8 characters with upper and lower case numbers and characters
my new password is 27 characters because I thought I would never have to type it in again
now it doesn't even work i tried to change it using the jagex reset password from the contact jagex page it what a loop of bs that was it didn't even let me change it

I've been following the feedback on this folly since players began posting about their problems.

All in all, this appears to be a fairly effective way to keep a player's accounts protected against being accessed by the player. How safe. How secure. I've been putting out fire with gasoline! ^_^

This didn't matter with pre Jagex launchers, you could type your password in all lower case and it would have still let you because passwords weren't case sensitive.

This is one of the many reasons they needed to upgrade their security.
