So now I can only log in through the driver? I am absolutely furious right now if this is seriously going to stay non-reversable. I have just made it to where if I'm not home, I have to download so much crap just to log in. not to mention the simplicity of logging out and just typing in my other username.. Please for the love of god reverse this.

To make it reversible would completely invalidate any security benefits that the new system provides. It just doesn't make sense for it to be reversible.

If you aren't home, you only have to download the Jagex Launcher. The launcher will install the game for you with one button click. A few extra seconds at the first login and you're back in ready to go again. Of course, make sure the PC you're accessing if you aren't home is secure (regardless of being upgraded or not upgraded). I've traveled a few times this year and bring a laptop with me when I do - I've not encountered any issues with playing while on the road.

Take some time to get used to things - yes, its different than how most of us have been logging in for many years, but after using it for a number of months now, I really don't think its as bad as you're making it seem.

Imho, I'm not a fan of Jagex Accounts or how they don't tell you it's not reversible upfront as you start the process of making it. But I'm also not one of the ones who were unlucky and the Jagex Launcher broke the game and made it impossible for them to log in either. Or one of the ones who had a compromised email which gave someone else access to all their characters regardless of the extra security. Idk how it works for those using Mobile or Steam, but I've heard it mentioned that playing through Steam made Jagex Accounts easier.

If you added your other Runescape Accounts to your Jagex Account, you don't need to type them in. Just log into the Jagex Account using the Jagex Launcher, select the account you want to play ~ (Play) (Dropdown menu to select which character) (Manage Characters) ~ right above (News). Assuming you added them to your Jagex Account. If you did not, they won't be in that dropdown menu.

Also, if you make separate Jagex Accounts, just know that you will need to log into the Jagex Launcher > select char to play and start > Log out of the Jagex Launcher > Log in on your next Jagex Account > Check email or w/e to authenticate > Finish your login to launcher and choose character to play > Repeat over and over if you are multiboxing and set all your Runescape accounts as separate Jagex Accounts. You can only have a single Jagex Account logged in to a Jagex Launcher on a single device at a time. Even if you try installing it on separate drives of your computer.

One last thing, not only is it irreversible when you make a Jagex Account, but the same when you add your Runescape characters to it. So be sure to think hard about the "extra security" before you add a character to a Jagex Account permanently. As long as they aren't tied to a Jagex Account, you can use the old launcher easy peasy.

I've seen and recall multiple warnings about Jagex Accounts not being reversible. Sure enough support won't (and/or can't) reverse it either.

why would they reverse something that is more secure and smoother for logging in?

Smoother lol; go read what Linux users have to do for this innovative launcher and come back here and say that. And before you or someone else comes back with something like "lol 1% go use Windows", note RS was perfectly fine launching without the Jagex Launcher.

I've hammered out a solution based on some wild tip from a random Reddit user for Linux, so I'm content with Jagex Launcher so far. It's completely absurd that Jagex would use Electron and even make it for macOS but provide no official solution for Linux; small indie studio issues of course even though they're charging close to big-boy AAA MMORPGS. But hey, here's all the hard-work done, for free: https://wiki.realmofespionage.xyz/games:wine:jagex_launcher

If I could reverse switching to a Jagex Account, I would, because it doesn't improve my security, and makes it a slight more PITA to log-in. Jagex Launcher and Accounts are an answer to people being silly with security and having password123 and no 2FA on their email that they use for banking and games, and then wondering how they get hacked after re-using their email pass on a phishing website. Or rather, it's an answer to people contacting their banks and leaving that silliness out of their refund requests since that's the only way to get Jagex to care about something :p

Question about jagex accounts.

Lets say in a pretend world a person gets hijacked and the person who hijacked them puts the hijacked account on their Launcher.. Will jagex be able to get the account back or is it then just lost for good.?
The richest person is not who has the most. It is who Needs the least.

Jagex staff have the ability to move characters from one account to another manually in the case of a hijack, but they don't like to do it much - better to secure your account properly now, than to have to worry about that later. (they cannot however, convert the character back to a stand-alone account) Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;
Do you think I should get off the tracks?
