We have a lot of a forums that the last page is for threads going back to 2019, 2017 ... 2015.

I propose that if a thread somehow makes it to page 40 a forum, it locks itself.

In the short term, I'd like ot suggest that Fmods go ahead and manually lock all of the 'old' threads that aren't over the 2k post limit.

No point in locking them really.

The Gravebumping rules were relaxed so if anyone had any further comments that were on topic they could post on them and thus carry on the topic.

That does not mean everything thats old can be bumped as threads gravebumped can still be locked. It's down to context and if the topic still has life left in it.

To lock threads once they get to say page 40 it would need to be done by hand as Jagex won't code anything for the forums. So can't see it happen. Would be better off making the sections 40 pages instead of 50 pages. Saves locking a lot of threads.

Pretty much this.

Plus would make the forums look pretty ugly seeing loads of threads locked.

I mean... is this an actual problem which needs solving?

If a thread is gravebumped for the sake of gravebumping, it gets handled accordingly.

If a thread is gravebumped because x, y, or z relevant reason, it should be all good, no?

would be nice if a grave bumped thread which got locked got sent back to the abyss from whence it came instead of displacing other threads off the limited first page space. Dumb that everyone should have to bump their threads to push it back down.

I agree with you here. Sending it back to where it came from is a really good idea. Especially if it came from page 50.
